Are smitten with creating book page crafts, or is it just me?

I was going through some old photos and discovered my first effort in book page crafting.

Book Page Medallion Wreath :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net :: Monday Funday Link Party

A Book Page Medallion Wreath

When I decided to make this wreath I watched videos and read all kinds of how-to’s.  It seemed pretty complicated to me.  And really, it was a piece of cake.  Kind of.  Don’t laugh, but rolling the pages into mini horns was not as easy as it looked.  I think I needed a third hand.  You know how it is….some things come very easily for a few and the rest of us we have to work it.

The wreath looks good if you don’t look closely.  My favorite part is the medallion.  I had never made a rosette before and it came out nicely.  It makes the wreath, don’t you think?

I don’t have the wreath any longer.  My friend was gifted with it when I moved to PA.  And even though it wasn’t perfect, and a wee bit more tedious than I had planned, I was bitten with the book page bug.  From making flowering branches to Christmas trees, it’s been fun crafting with book pages.

Have you had fun with book pages?  What was your favorite project?

Maybe I should thank this book page medallion wreath for inspiring me down this road of book page crafting for home decor. [wink]

Your table and vignette was so fun and beachy!! I’m thrilled you shared it!

  4. Your book page wreath is gorgeous. It turned out wonderfully.

    • Diane says

That is so nice of you to say that! Thank you Shannah!!
      Hope your week is extraordinary!

  5. Mel says

Aww…the medallion is cute. I tried a “simple” version for a holiday decoration….not so simple and no success….well, not successful enough that I gifted them. Maybe I’ll give it another go, but my problem was more in the assembly. LOL. I do have problems following directions!
It’s been fun being privy to so much talent and creativity. And the beachy things you featured…wow!! I can see how they grabbed your attention.

    • Diane says

Phooey…I hate it when I have a good idea and it doesn’t work out quite like I’d like. Frustrating and humbling…especially when it’s for a gift…and if you’re like me…I tend to do that kind of thing a little too last minute. I made some medallions or rosettes with wide ribbon last year…I’m thinking of sharing a tutorial. I took plenty of photos so I should probably do that. But…even though it was easy…again…I needed a third hand. Oh well.
Hope your day has been blessed.

  6. Your wreath looks great and I especially like the initial medallion in the center. Thanks for sharing at TTF this week.

    Linda

    • Diane says

After testing out a bazillion “m’s” I finally settled on that one. Haha!!!
      Thanks Linda!!
      Hope your week is extraordinary!

  7. Wow! I love all your paper crafts, the wreath is just awesome!! Glad I found you from Natasha in Oz Sat link party, you ROCK with your creative self! 🙂 Michelle

    • Diane says

      Wishing you An Extraordinary Day!

  8. Kathy says

Hi, I have come from a linky party and this is the first time to visit. I love your blog. I want to do a paper wreath but haven’t figured out what everything is glued to – backing. Kathy

    • Diane says

Hi Kathy!! It’s so good to have you ‘over’ to visit!! 🙂
My backing is simply a piece of cardboard to which I had drawn a circle with a bowl so that I would have some way of hopefully keeping the paper horns circling into a well, a circle. [wink] I hope that helps…please let me know if you have other questions.

  9. Judy says

I just love your wreath. I will be featuring this tonight at my Sizzle into Summer party that opens at 8pm EST. Please stop by and pick up an I’ve Been Featured button. Thanks.

    • Diane says

You just made my day, Judy!!! Thank you sooo much!!
