Remember how I said I was embracing Winter?
Not anymore!
Today I flung open the doors and welcomed Spring with open arms.
Well not literally…it’s only 27 degrees! Instead, I exercised my decorating creativity and paper crafting skills to make a fun pennant banner embellished with colorful birds and music pages from vintage hymnals.
My vintage window has now undergone its third transformation since I received it as a gift on Thanksgiving. Take a peek at it as a Christmas Window and later as a Valentine Window.
Who knew that an old window would make such a fabulous gift?
Those of us who live in the North have another month and a half of Winter, regardless of what good ol’ Phil has to say about it.
The snow has been flying most of the day and the forecast is for freezing rain in the morning.
I’m going to ignore it and think Spring. You too?
I’m going to sing!
Sing like the birdies.
Since I’ve been hearing the birds sing in the morning when I walk, and since Bluebirds have come visiting, I’m pretty sure that Spring is here….regardless of the calendar or the temperature.
Sing.
We need more music in our lives.
If you want to be extraordinary….you gotta sing!!
Sing HIS praises.
Sing the psalms, compose hymns and songs inspired by the Spirit,
and keep on singing—sing to God from hearts full and spilling over with thankfulness.
Colossians 3:16 (The Voice translation)
Are you inspired to sing?
Don’t tell me you don’t have a singing voice. We were all created to sing the praises of our Creator. So, if you don’t like hearing your voice…sing in your heart. Joy will rise.
I love it when I wake up with a song in my heart in the morning. Does that happen to you too?
Spring has come to my home.
Spring has been splashed all over this sentimental vintage window dressed in pennant banners and embellished with vintage hymnal pages and paper birds. What do you think of this whimsical burst of Spring?
Thanks for popping by! I love reading your thoughtful words…please be sure to leave a few. They will be like a warm hug in my day.
If you’ve enjoyed this post, would you click on the social sharing buttons on the side or the bottom and invite your friends to visit? And if you haven’t yet…please join me on Facebook. Thank you!!
Joyfully Singing…
Diane
P.S. For those of you who like to know the details, I’m putting together a tutorial I’ve put together a tutorial here. These were the first pennants I’ve ever created and since I had to figure it out, I thought that I would share my tips with you in an upcoming post.

happy spring to you indeed! happy day to you!
Thank you!!
Hope your spring is Extraordinary!!
I love the pennants and the birds…so cute. And I really like that you used music paper for this. Your display definitely makes me think of spring, especially since it is snowing and freezing rain outside my window right now.
Mission accomplished!! Spring thoughts on a yucky day are the best!
Thanks for stopping by Rachel! 🙂 Hope your weekend is extraordinary!
This is great and I absolutely LOVE that wreath!!!! I just started decorating with an old barn window, but it has no glass, so it is safer for our house. 😉 Yours looks great for all holidays so far. I should get mine ready for Spring, too. Thanks for sharing!!!
You are going to have soooo much fun with your barn window! And you’ve even more possibilities without the glass.
Thanks for stopping by and leaving your sweet words, Lindsay!
Wishing you an Extraordinary weekend!
How lovely! I don’t really work with paper much, but this is so inspiring!!! Thanks for sharing.
I’ve only done cardmaking…this was a new venture and pretty rewarding.
Thanks for stopping by Anita!! 😀
Ohhh…..birdies!!!! CUTE birdies no less. Texture and springy colours and flowery bits. It is toooo cute. Perfect thing to gift you and you’re making awesome use of it. Very nice touch with the sheet music. I’m all about giving life to those ‘destined for destruction’ things. Look at how pretty it turned out for your first attempt at a banner. What a great end result! I’d have never guessed that one! Well done you. NOW you can plot the Easter one. 😉
Hmmmm….how many weeks until Easter?
Thanks Mel! You know how to make a gal’s day, don’t you! 🙂
I love your birds! I’ve been thinking a lot about spring also even though we’re in the middle of a snowstorm! I may to get out some cheery decor! Coming from StudioJRU…

Following from the Pinterest party. This was a really pretty display and the post was just what I needed to hear and be reminded of. I’m grumpy today, things aren’t going my way, and it’s raining and the rain is the best part of the day so far. I needed to be reminded about singing His praises. Thanks
Janet, you just but a big smile on my face knowing that my post encouraged your heart today. [hugs]
May your weekend be joy-filled. 🙂

Thank YOU Claudia!!!!
Hello Diane!
What a positive attitude you have- it’s contagious! It must be so fun to seasonally decorate the window. That is something I would certainly do! Your banner is charming and looks sweet in Easter pastels. Yes, I often wake (or am accompanied all day long) by a song in my head – and laugh when it get’s stuck there into the next day. The only remedy is to sing it aloud! haha~ I must say, though, that this is an issue of the ‘grass is greener’ when it comes to wishing away Winter. In SO CA we get very little ‘winter’ and so I hang onto it for dear life! I know only too well that we will have hot temps up to October 31 and that the long sunny days begin to loose their charm when the sun is glaring in late Fall. I enjoy the cold. I revel in wearing pretty scarves and lovely boots. I embrace the chilly nights (ok, so it is RARELY lower than the 40’s but I have to take what I can get) with charming quilts on the bed. I’ll send some sunshine your way and won’t you please send us a cool breeze or two?
Visiting from SAT Show Off,
Shawn
You are so sweet!! Funny how perspective makes such a difference in how we view winter. I’m am so grateful that I live where we have all four distinct seasons. It’s truly a blessing. I’ll try to blow really hard and hopefully it will travel across the states to whisper some coolness in your neighborhood.
Thanks for taking time to stop by and leave your charming words.
Blessings!
I am so jealous of your vintage window! I can’t wait to hear how you did your pennants. I made one for my cousin’s bridal shower, and I am hoping you might have found an easier way.
Thanks Maggie! It will be up on Tuesday, I think. I’ll be interested to get your feedback.
Blessings!

Taking joy!
Kathy
Love all the springy colour!
I still love this window!! I kinda forgot. I like the hymnal pages. I’m so hmm sentimental I photocopy my pages of hymns!! I really like the birds. Reminds me of teaching, changing for the seasons no matter what!! I’m praising God for Tahoe down the Sierras are getting snow–was up to 43%!!! I’ve been shaking my snow globe and last week said to The Lord, Do you want a drought for our sinfulness is great in this state? Should I shake no more for snow in prayer to You? And then quietly just a couple days later, SNOW!!! And more in the mountains tonight too!! I keep praying for we were allocated zero water for AG and zero for oil industries. Big resources for our country. Praise God for snow in the Sierras and yes,, for my blue jay called a scrub jay in my yard. He’s so funny to watch! Ahhh…the storm is coming and that brings much needed rain to the valley floor and snow which feeds our canal systems to water all our crops in the summer blistering heat. Praise God!!
