Here we are….less than a week from Thanksgiving.
Are you ready?
Last year I was blessed to have one of my dearest friends drive 8 hours to come for Thanksgiving. That was an extra special gift to me.
I wanted to make everything special and so I brought out my grandmother’s flow blue china and created a very dressy Thanksgiving table setting. And yes, I even blogged about it. But, since the post came out just two days before Thanksgiving, you might have been too busy to even notice. So…I thought I’d link to it again. You just might get an idea or two or three. When you pop over to the post, be sure to leave a comment and tell me what you think.

It was an Extraordinary week here on the blog.

This post was the beginning of my affection for repurposing sweaters. Plus a quick review of the past week on the blog. - My Grocery List :: Joy Day! and My List of Blessings
You never know what can happen while standing in line at the Kroger. - Mantel Decor :: Decorating with Pampas Grass and Peacock Feathers
Just look out the door…nature has everything we need to make our homes cozy for fall and winter. - Final Tribute to Fall :: Pampas Grass Wreath Embellished with Pine Cones and Peacock Feathers
I gave myself a challenge to create a wreath with pampas grass. Weigh in on it. Is it weird or beautiful? - Thankful Thursday :: Take Things with Gratitude :: Printable
This quote really made me think….so I created a Free printable of it using a photo I took in a conservatory.
Humbled and grateful.
What a lovely blessing to have been featured here:
- The Finnish Blog, Leena Crafts, shared a link to my Book Page Christmas Trees tutorial that brought unexpected traffic to the blog. Isn’t it fun to be able to reach out to the whole world?
- And Fran at stampersblog.franticstampers also created some Book Page Christmas Trees and shared a link to my tutorial.
As you know I enjoy doing a little partying at other blogs…a few of my posts were included in the features from the weekly link-ups here:
Rooted in Thyme ~ From My Front Porch to Yours ~ Lavender Garden Cottage
The DIY Dreamer ~ Days N Thoughts ~ A Delightsome Life
On a Personal Note
Do you remember last week I shared that my blog numbers shot up? Well…this week I had two more days that surpassed last week. I am so incredibly grateful for this growth. Praise God!
Speaking of growth. You can help this blog grow and our Facebook page as well. Be sure to use the sharing buttons on the side and at the bottom of the blog when you enjoy any of the posts here. And with Facebook…please comment and share often. I love “talking” to you, and it helps push the algorithms…getting the posts to appear in the News Feed more often.
This has been a week of challenges where I have had to lean in a little harder….and frankly it’s been tough to be encouraging and positive even when I haven’t felt like it. Then I remember what Mamie McCullough said years ago…”Fake it ’til you make it.” I’m not about faking anything. But…when you do and say the right things, regardless of how you feel, you’re training your mind. Have you ever done that? It’s kind of like faith. We step ahead, trusting, regardless of how things appear. Some days require a lot of faith and mind training. In the end, we grow our faith and get stronger and are better for it. Yes?
Finally…after a bout of bad weather and losing our power…though nothing like having tornados or typhoons….the sun finally came out and the Thanksgiving table setting I created was finally in bright light so I could photograph it. Yay!! Watch for the post on Monday!
So tell me…what good things have made your week?
Wishing you an Extraordinary weekend!
Diane

Hello! I haven’t had time to comment lately, but I just wanted you to know I’m still here enjoying all your posts. I’d also like to tell you, my brother, who had cancer last summer and went through chemo, has been tested to be CANCER FREE!!!!! He has some scar tissue that they will take care of in February, but he’s well, and (at 82 years old) back to work!!! God is so merciful and good. I couldn’t imagine life without Him! Have a blessed Thanksgiving! Dona
Dona, I am elated to hear the news of your brother! WooHoo! That is exciting. And back to work! Wow! He’s amazing.
Yes…God is good…so good!
You will definitely have a blessed Thanksgiving this year. 🙂
And I’ll have ya know that china is STILL boxed up in the basement storage. Oy….good intentions lost with the chasos that happened this past year. This year…notsomuch fancy plans either. LOL. YOURS is always lovely to look at. And the addition of touches of gold does lend to the elegant feel.
I’m a fake it til ya make it kinda gal. If I wait for the change in how I feel before I DO, I could be waiting a long time. I’ve learned tbat if I want to FEEL different I need to DO different. I always had that one backwards.
And I have folks in my life who constantly remind me that I don’t have to feel like being nice to BE NICE. Thank goodness…LOL. I’ve had a kinda snarky deal going on this week. I don’t like not being able to control some things, go figure. LOL
Congratulations on beating your own numbers! I’ve no doubt that’ll happen again. 😉
Oh yeah….this year has really been turned upside down for you, Mel. Fooling around with fancy plates is not something you need to deal with right now. But…at the Bug gets a little older, I can guarantee that she will be thrilled to eat from fancy plates. It was my aunt who set the beautiful tables as I was growing up…with candlelight too…that set the stage for my love of eating at a pretty table. Going to her house and eating a meal was always an event for me. I’m pretty sure that my excitement made her day too.
This world is filled with people relying on feelings. It reminds me of a saying my husband uses…”The right thing to do is always the right thing to do.” I like it because it takes the feelings out of the equation. And usually, we all know what the right thing to do…is.
Blessings….
