My fascination with the "Chopped" challenges inspired me to say yes to the Ultimate Recipe Challenge blog hop when my friend Kim of The Kim Six Fix put out the challenge. This bi-monthly affair will feature a different ingredient each month. And this month's ingredient challenge is Potatoes! So without further ado... Chefs and chef-wannabees... I made for you...   I've been impressed with many IKEA Rast Hacks floating around the internet. There are so many truly creative ideas. So when I was approached by Hickory Hardware I leaped at the opportunity to put my creativity to work. Shortly thereafter, an IKEA Rast dresser was sent to my home along with a $25 Visa gift card to purchase supplies for the hack.  Knobs for my Rast Hack were provided by Hickory Hardware. No other compensation was received.     A new baby girl in the family gave me the perfect excuse and idea for transforming this small (24 3/8 x 27 1/2") 3-drawer pine dresser into … [Read more...]

You know how it goes... you're out shopping... on a hunt for something specific... and out of the blue... IT calls your name! How does IT even know your name? How does IT know you are a lover of all things earthy and natural? How does IT know you would LOVE a basket that can do double duty for St. Patrick's Day and Easter? Especially a lovely mossy Easter basket! How does that happen?         IT has been one busy but smart basket! I can't say that you'll have a basket speak to you like IT did me when you're out and about. But, on the … [Read more...]

Wouldn't you like to have God's blessing? One morning, because frankly, things have not been going as we hoped and prayed, I asked the Lord for a word of encouragement. As I opened my Bible it fell open to Jeremiah.  I'm not sure why, but God has often used passages there to speak to my heart in big ways.  I read a few chapters and came to these verses... But I will bless those who trust me. They will be like trees growing beside a stream— trees with roots that reach down to the water, and with leaves that are always green. They bear fruit every year and are never … [Read more...]

I woke up to a fresh coating of snow this morning.  After a gorgeous sunny day yesterday... well it's a damp blanket for the day... but I know spring and sunny skies are coming soon. Whatever your plans are for the weekend, I hope you take time to exercise your creativity.  I'll be giving it my best shot.  Because at our house we'll be working at getting over the flu.  Ugh!  It totally put me out of commission yesterday.  Hopefully, I can push through it today.  I'm praying for an extra measure of strength as I have several posts that are in the midst of being completed for the weekend and next … [Read more...]

Make an eye-catching Irish centerpiece with this easy to make St. Patrick's Day basket and the following day... a few quick change-ups and you'll be ready for the next spring holiday!   Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day? I know you'll want to at least decorate a corner of your space with this Easy to Make St. Patrick's Day Basket.   With Swedish and Dutch roots, I had never gotten into the celebration of St. Patrick's Day.  In fact, it was barely on my radar... until I moved to Buffalo where there is a large Irish community. Many of my non-Irish friends became Irish for a day or … [Read more...]

Is there something going on in your life that you're praying about and seeking God's help to see you through? Maybe you're like me. When I'm facing something big... I pray like crazy... I ask my close friends to pray like crazy... and when things don't seem to be moving along... I enlist others to pray... and possibly even seek advice. You know what my problem is? I lack faith.     Recently I read a story about an elderly woman's exchange with a young man.  He asked her what he should do to get God's help with his need. Her reply might surprise you. She told the … [Read more...]

Have you noticed?  The days are getting longer!   The sun won't set tonight until 6:30!  That means I can go for an after-dinner walk in twilight and not pitch darkness.  I LOVE twilight... it's such a beautiful and peaceful time of the day.  And as the days get warmer... it will be even better.  Though I think we're in for a roller coaster of weather these days.  Snow and school closings and then three days later... 50 degrees!  Whatever!  Spring is around the corner and for some of you... she's already arrived in all her beautiful finery.  I can't wait to greet her. I'm working on some … [Read more...]

How was your weekend? We had amazingly warm weather... hitting 50 degrees two days in a row.  Of course we had a reality check today as the temperatures dipped and a few icy flakes fell from the gray skies.  It's been confirmed by the weather service that winter is still here... along with an expected 6-12 inches of new snow.  However... that did not dim my feelings for Spring.  Today I worked on projects involving pink and found something funk to share with you for St. Patrick's Day and Easter too. I have no room for Winter in my heart any longer.  Spring... I LOVE you and all your beautiful colors and … [Read more...]

With Easter and Spring right around the corner, I wanted to put together a super fun little mason jar project that would perfect for the season. It also needed to be colorful and a bit whimsical. Because I'm always game to experiment with something new, I decided to try something I've never done before... Mod Podge fabric to glass. Oh my! I am sooo happy with the results!     Isn't this  Easter egg mason jar the cutest thing ever? I know you'll want to make one, or three, or ten.  Okay, maybe not ten.  They would be darling for your Easter decor, or as favors, or even … [Read more...]

Do you believe in coincidences?  I prefer to think of them as God moments.  To me those coincidences are reminders of God's hand at work in my life.  I like to think of those coincidences as His attention-getting tools.  He's pretty clever that way.     Recently I received an email that contained a graphic with the word, endurance. I contemplated it for a minute and then was off to the next email.  Later in the day a good friend left a comment on Facebook with a scripture verse.  It was there that the word endurance popped out at me, again.   Have you ever given much … [Read more...]

Today we got a taste of spring! Sure... the wind was blowing 40-some-miles-per-hour.  However, the sun was shining and it was 50 degrees!  I know it's just a teaser, but it was a wonderful one and I got outside at lunchtime to push into the wind for an energizing walk. It felt great!!  And there's more sun in the forecast for tomorrow.  There just might be dancing in the street. When the sun finally comes out and a warm breeze blows, you can bet my creative juices start flowing. You, too?  I'm so excited by what you all brought to this week's party.  Such great ideas!  I bet you'll find at least one that … [Read more...]

Did you have a lovely Valentine's Day? We enjoyed a quiet dinner at home and then went downtown for an evening walk.  Brrrr... it was cold!  However, as we drove through our little town we noticed that all the good restaurants were super busy.  I love it.  How did you spend the weekend?
