Spring has sprung
and my little corner of the world is a fireworks of white, pink, green, and yellow!
Today is the official day for everyone to be…
celebrating Earth Day!
Yup. I’m sure it’s the talk of the day at every school and on the television.
Can I let you in on a little secret?
I’m not celebrating Earth Day.
Nope!
But…I am celebrating!
I am celebrating the Creator of this amazing orb we call Earth.
My mind cannot comprehend the amazingly detailed perfection that was required and is still required to keep us orbiting in just this spot. A few degrees off and we’d be freezing to death or burning up. And that is just one of a kazillion details that makes this fascinating ball in the sky the incredible place it is.
Do you take for granted the wind and the rain?
How about clouds and sunshine?
Or trees and flowers?
And what about the organisms in the soil that compost the decaying matter into rich nutritious earth from which seeds spout and broccoli and lettuce and tomatoes spring forth and Robins feast?
What about the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls or one of the other wonders of the world?
All this was created by our amazing Creator God. The ONE who created heaven and earth.
This is my Father’s world.
Am I suggesting that we not celebrate Earth Day? Not really.
I am suggesting that we celebrate the ONE who spoke it all into existence with a word.
The following is a song I have loved since I was a little girl attending Samuel Lutheran Church. My home church sang a more uptempo version of it this week. I think I love it even more than I did way back when. Today I understand the lyrics even more. And I know Creator God as we have walked hand-in-hand enjoying this amazing place He created for you and me. (I’m sorry that I can’t give you the band’s rendition that I heard on Sunday….but this version is beautiful….and you can read the words, too.)
Yes, I do get a little bit carried away when I take a walk. Just ask my husband. I exclaim. And oooh and ahhh over this flower and that tree and the littlest bug and the amazing sunset…over and over and over again. I never get tired of looking, as there is always something new to delight my eye. And to capture on camera.
So, join me on Earth Day and celebrate the ONE who made the world and said it is good. I say, very good.
I’ll be celebrating Earth Day singing…This IS my Father’s World!
Wishing you An Extraordinary Earth Day!
Diane

“That though the wrong seem oft so strong, G-d is the ruler yet” Amazing those words…..the ones I needed sang to me this morning. Amazing….. I love the song, the photos (A.M.A.Z.I.N.G……what an amazing world we get to live in….), the humbling call to praise what IS….exactly what I needed this morning, Diane. And I can smile at my Maker and thank Him for the awesome arrangements He makes for me to get the message over and over again.
And how loved are we (am *I*) to be gifted such wonders AND be taken such good care of.
More walks with the hubby, I say! LOL Bless his patient, loving heart.
And thank you……seriously.
I’ll go into the day with wonder and awe in my heart.
And I’ll let go of that bit in me that wasn’t real happy with mankind–turn off the noise and watch. Because, as it’s been pointed out to me, if I turn off the noise and just LOOK…..I’ll see the goodness all around me.
You validated that for me this morning. Kinda like the exclamation point.
Thanks for that. Really…..
*hugs*
Yes! When we sing those words I find great comfort in “God is the ruler yet.” There’s something about understanding our place in this great big world.
I am so very blessed that God used this post and the song to minister to your heart just the very thing you needed. Isn’t he incredible that way? This Earth really is an amazing place. What a fabulous display of HIS love! May you be wrapped up in that love today, Mel! [hugs]

I love all the beauty of this world. I can be sad, stressed, or just heavy hearted but taking a walk in nature or looking out in the window can lift my spirit in a second. I am so thankful for the Lord’s handiwork of our world.
Great post.
Isn’t it amazing what a walk with wide open eyes will do to renew your spirit?
Thanks for your kind words, Chrissy! [hugs]

I agree we need to celebrate God’s World for He is the creator of earth and all that is in it. My post was not exactly similar, but this is God’s world and may I ever dwell in HIM. for he is my place of refuge.
Isn’t it comforting to know that, too!
Thanks for your thought words, Hazel!
