Walking. It’s something we do every day.
We love it for getting our exercise. But, one reason that I choose walking is because it gives me the opportunity to actually ‘talk’ with my husband. And the other reason, is because it gives me more time to notice the world around me. I know, that’s no surprise to you….especially as it seems that my second most favorite thing to do is to go out, camera in hand, and see what I can discover.
Maybe that’s why I notice things that change along my paths. Like the first day the Crocus stick up their pretty heads.
This week, it was as if all the Crocus got together in their loamy underworld and agreed on the very day that they would all emerge. There was a carnival of Crocus color everywhere. I walked late that day, so it wasn’t a good time to be taking anyone’s portrait….especially one as lovely as a Crocus. The next day, I knew exactly where I wanted to go to take some shots. And wouldn’t you know….the Honey Bees also learned of this most excellent discovery. They and their hungry bellies were out in full force capturing delicious nectar. And I was attempting to capture them a midst their aerobatics. Hope you enjoy the moment, too.
This quote from Oliver Wendell Holmes truly says it all…
“The ‘Amen!’ of Nature is always a flower.”
Snow and freezing rain are in our forecast, but I’ll keep the memory of these sweet purple faces in the forefront of my mind.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave your sweet words. If you want to see how the Forsythia I forced are coming along…be sure to join An Extraordinary Day on Facebook.

Don’t miss out on fantastic Tuesday & Wednesday SALES!
OH MY GOSH….. That middle one of the lone honey bee is magnificent, Diane–what a fantastic capture. Such a clear and brilliantly colourful shot. Well done! You must have been laying in the mud for that one. LOL
And what wonderful gifts you get graced in with that little walk–I get quiet when I walk, too busy looking and spying and discovering. LOL Must be what the he-who-enjoys-quiet likes about walks with me, huh? LOLOL Oh, but what treasures we discover. And I’m so glad I’m not the only one who makes a mental note and revisits discoveries.
Ohhhhhh……I soooooo want to be able to go for a wander! I wouldn’t even need to go far, I’m sure–well, Arizona, maybe……we’re getting snow as I type! LOL
Love the quote, love the photos! Well done, YOU!!
When I got home and loaded the pics on the computer I nearly burst when I saw that one with the bee. I do my best when I take shots…but you know I have a pocket camera and that screen thing with which you see your image…is better than most…but it is still hard for me to really see if I got something in focus or not. Grrrr. So I was thrilled. This whole post just made me happy….and I’m glad you like it too!
Oh that four-letter word. It’s predicted for our area too. But, seriously that’s better than what is supposed to come next. Freezing rain & a wintry mix. That cramps one’s style when it comes to walking.
Treasures…they are always waiting for those who are willing to see. 🙂 My hidden blessings. I hope you get to go on a wander soon. But Arizona? It will be pretty there soon….but it’s not calling me name! LOL!
Thanks for your compliments, Mel. It means a lot!! [hugs]
Wonderful pictures! Crocuses were out here as well and then it snowed on them… I don’t know how they’ll look when the snow melts!
Oh Magali….we got snow this morning too. :-/ Good thing the are strong flowers!!
Beautiful shots! The first flowers of Spring are always so invigorating bringing with them hope that new beginnings are just around the corner.
Thank you!! Yes! Isn’t it wonderful? 🙂
Thank you so much for sharing!! Here in my spot of Texas I never see a crocus … except in pictures. I guess it doesn’t get cold enough for long enough in order for them to be happy here. Our daffodils are up, but I sure do miss the crocus!
Isn’t it funny what we take for granted? At least you have daffodils….they are the happiest of flowers!!
Hope your day is extraordinary!!
Hi, Diane, Love the crocuses! For some reason I’ve never had them but I do have hyacinths. This morning I went outside & was amazed & thrilled that they had bloomed! I do love my hyacinths! Spring is my favorite season & I always get a little crazy. Enjoy your blog sooo much!
Carolyn…you just made my day! [hugs] Oh…there isn’t anything like the fragrance of hyacinths! Heavenly!
Hope your day is Extraordinary!!!!
Great shots, they make me want to get a more powerful camera to get bug and bird shots.
Ahhh Gracie! No need for a powerful camera…just lots of patience and lots of clicks. My camera is a pocket camera…Nikon Coolpix S610. It does have a macro setting…but it’s still a pocket camera. I know…it’s amazing to think you can get a shot like this with this kind of camera. So…until my big girl camera falls from the sky…I’m going to keep doing my best with this one. You too! Yes? Thanks for the complement!!
Beautiful, I can’t wait for spring to hit in my neck of the woods.
Thank you Dawn!!
Sending wishes for Spring and flowers your way!
LOVE LOVE LOVE that photo of the crocus and the bee. Such great focus! We just now got rid of most of our snow so your lovely crocus where just the thing to brighten up my day.
Just stopping by to say hello (or should I say just hopping by?) from the Rurality Blog Hop.
Thank you Lynne for hopping by!! I have to tell you I am feeling so very blessed to have captured this beautiful moment. Your sweet words put a smile on my face! 🙂
Diane, your pictures are simply beautiful! The bee in the center of the flower is a wonderful reminder that Spring is truly on its way and I’m so thankful for that! Love the quote too. Thank you for sharing your lovely post at my HOME and have an extraordinary day!
Blessings,
Sandi
You words were like a warm hug to me, Sandi! Thank you!!
Since Spring arrives shortly, let me be the first to wish you a Happy Spring!
Your pictures are beautiful! That bee! I wondered if you noticed the link in my post the other day. You inspired me to use book pages to mount a graphic I printed of vintage eggs. Thanks for the tip!
Susan….It is so amazing to me that my photo turned out so well. I can’t exactly tell if I get things in good focus or not with my camera many times. heehee! So when it came up on my screen my jaw dropped and I couldn’t wait to share it. I do remember the lovely graphic you made…and I think I even commented on it…but I didn’t see the link. I’ll go back and check. I’m touched that something I shared was helpful. Thanks!!
Wow! Gorgeous photos of beautiful crocuses ~ mine are still green in New England ^_^
If it’s any consolation Carol…we’ve had snow all day. Even white-out conditions. All I can think is those poor honey bees.
Thanks for taking time to share your kind words.

Your crocus are absolutely stunning. I suffer from depression and anxiety and long to see the first crocus popping their heads up from the snow. You have captured them spectacularly. Thank you so much. Here from Studio JRU.
I’m so happy that you are enjoying them Paula. If you like save a photo and use it as your screen’s wallpaper…if it is sized appropriately.
Thank you for your sweet words and taking the time to stop by! 🙂

God sure creates the most beautiful colors. I am continually amazed.
I hope Spring actually starts to spring into life around you too!
I’m dying to see my first crocus but so far am still waiting. Thank you for sharing! Happy St. Patrick’s Day too…Ann
Oh I hope they burst forth soon! Today I walked past a home (without my camera :-/ ugh) that had a sea of lavender crocus. I hope I can go back tomorrow and get a good pic. With all the grayness of March…they are certainly a welcome sight!!
Happy St. Paddy’s to you too, Ann!
Beautiful crocus! I used to love the first signs of spring. (I still would if we still lived where there was an early spring — doesn’t really happen here in Florida.!)…but my toes were warm almost every day all winter and you can’t have everything!) But I love seeing everybody elsle’s spring flowers..thanks for the beautiful pictures and the memories!!!
Awww…thanks Sallie!! I think having warm toes is pretty important. Good thing for felted wool socks here in the North!! I guess we will live vicariously through each other. 🙂 Blessings!
You are a great photographer!
That is the nicest thing to say, Betty!!
Thank you for putting a huge smile on my face!
The crocus is a beautiful flower. And my favorite color. Gorgeous photos. Have a happy weekend!
Isn’t the purple simply magnificent? I sure can see why it is considered a royal color.
Thanks for your sweet words, Eileen.
Wishing you an Extraordinary weekend!
Truly great quote there… and yes please, spring time now!
Mollyxxx
Awwww…thanks Molly!! 🙂
I always enjoy watching what’s around me when we take our walks. But hubby and I don’t talk as we are both listening to our own kind of music (totally different tastes). 🙂 The crocuses are beautiful. Best wishes, Tammy
You might be like the couple in our previous neighborhood. They were super fast walkers….both with their own tunes. We always thought they were so cute. But, we talk and pray together and I love it. We live in a hilly area now so we don’t ride our bikes much…there’s no talking while bike riding. LOL Guess that’s why I like walking. 🙂
Just beautiful and I love the quote…it does say it perfectly.
Dawn, it is so nice of you to say that!
Wishing you an Extraordinary new week!
Beautiful! 🙂
Awww…Lyli…Thanks!! 🙂
Oh, my goodness what a gorgeous burst of color! Your images are so lovely too.
Thank you, Marty! God is an amazing Creator! I’m blessed to be able to capture just a glimpse!
