Happy Summer!!
Summer officially rolled in to town at 1:04 EDT Friday morning. Fortunately or unfortunately it was still dark here, so I was unable to see the sun at its most northern exposure at that hour.
This First Day of Summer did not disappoint! It was bright and sunny and warm. The perfect summer day! The only thing that would make it better….an Endless Pool in my backyard. A girl can dream….right?
When the weather heats up, most of us don’t want to be cranking up the oven or leaning over a steaming pot on the stove. And sure…there is that thing called air conditioning. But, if possible, I prefer “air nature.” What’s the alternative? For many it’s the grill. However, as wonderful as grilled burgers and dogs may be. Wouldn’t you like to treat yourself and the family to something extraordinary? I knew you’d say, “Yes!”
Today I was flipping through my Eating Well magazine that the postman just shot through my letter slot. And what did my wondering eyes see? Pizza. But, not just any pizza. Pizz’alad. Okay…you might have to practice pronouncing that word a few times until it rolls easily off the tongue. The thing is….it’s the perfect summer food. In the article they baked theirs in an outdoor brick oven. Hands please….who has one of those? I thought so. Me neither. No doubt you have a grill. If you do…then we’re ready to rock and roll pizza on the grill!

Right: Flameware 14″ Pizza Stone by Longaberger ~ Choose from 6 colors
The Roast Garlic, White Bean & Kale Pizz’alad, above left, looks pretty amazing. Click here for a complete recipe for creating the fabulous crust and all the delectable toppings.
The magic behind pizza on the grill is a pizza stone. I don’t think that you can put the average pizza stone on your grill. However, being the wonderful person I am…..I can put a healthy toxin free ceramic Pizza Stone in your hands. It’s from Longaberger and it’s part of the Flameware collection. And it’s designed for the grill, the oven, and the stove top. It’s 20% off for just a few more days and you can order it from me here. (Sale ends 6/30).
(Yes, this is a shameless plug for which I hope to make a few dollars to purchase the ingredients to make a Pizz’alad…seriously! And just think how ordinary life would be if you didn’t know about these wonderful products from Longaberger.) [wink]
Here’s how to cook your pizza on the grill.
Preheat your grill to medium-high….along with your Flameware Pizza Stone. Slide your rolled out pizza dough onto the hot stone, close the grill’s lid and let it cook until the dough is lightly puffed out and browned on the bottom. It takes from 1-3 minutes.
Remove the dough from the grill, flip over, and place on a cutting board. Add your toppings to your dough and return to the stone on your grill. Close lid and cook another 3 to 5 minutes or until done.
There are so many topping options. The Eating Well article had recipes for: Margherita Pizz’alad, Prosciutto, Asiago & Bitter Greens Pizz’alad, Loaded Garden Pizz’alad, Blue Cheese & Spinach Pizz’alad, and Vietnamese Mango & Chicken Pizz’alad. Don’t they sound wonderful? If you want those exact recipes, you need to pick up the new August 2013 issue.
However, it’s pizza with a salad topping, so feel free to concoct your own recipe.
Have fun with it. Be creative. Be extraordinary!!
And be sure to let me know if you make it, what you made, and how it turned out.

Catch up on all that’s Extraordinary…
this week at An Extraordinary Day:
Here are this week’s posts…
- Lemony Goodness :: The Week at a Glance 6/15
- Pray Diligently :: Joy Day!
- Decorating Mason Jars with Burlap :: Monday Funday Link Party
- Roadside Find :: Vintage French Provincial Screen
- 4th of July :: Patriotic Printables
It was another Extraordinary Week on the blog!
Joy Day! It’s so good to start the week counting seven things for which to give thanks. I also pondered what it means to pray diligently. The fun of the Monday Funday Link Party is coming to a close for me. This upcoming weekend will be my final time to participate with the lovely ladies there. That post began with a little replay of one of the blog’s early posts…which few of you had seen. You know how much fun I have with my vintage mason jars and this was no exception. But, what has everyone talking is my story about how I came about acquiring the pieces to put together my extraordinary vintage French provincial screen. Everyone loves a good story. And finishing the week…a round up of some of my favorite FREE 4th of July printables.
Humbled and blessed.
It is such an incredible blessing to create a post, share it around blogland with a bit of fear and trepeditation, only to discover that someone liked it enough to pick it from the many at their link party to feature. Yes…it really does make my day. I am so grateful for the recognition at these wonderful places this past week:
Green Willow Pond – What We Accomplished ~ Elizabeth & Co. – Be Inspired Features
Elizabeth & Co. – May Garden Party Features
On a personal note. This week has been a bit of a roller coaster. We were anticipating the next step in the interview process only to be told that they had selected their group and my husband was not among the chosen. Ugh. Financially, we have exhausted our resources. Please pray that we have a break through soon. Yesterday would be great. [wink] I have remained steadfast in thanking and praising God…regardless. Though all of this is stressful, tires me yet makes it hard for me to fall asleep some nights, I really do have the peace that passes understanding. Praise God. It would be nice to be more focused and productive. Yet, I have much reason for gratitude. I have no doubt that it is the prayers of friends like you who have buoyed me on this journey. Thank you!
Have I told you that An Extraordinary Day readers truly are Extraordinary? Well…you are!!! [hugs]
Wishing you an Extraordinary weekend!
Diane

Pizza on a grill, mmmmmm….
Mmmm…makes you hungry. Yes?
Thanks for stopping by Madonna…Hope your week is extraordinary!
Pizz’alad? I LOVE that! Great site.
Thank you so much Crystal!!
Hope your weekend is extraordinary!
Oh……crud. *sigh* I know–something is in the works that passes what got passed by, but gosh golly. *sigh* Any day now would be good. The ‘wait’ isn’t exactly what we were hoping for. I’ll keep praying–He’s taken very good care of you.
And this is the third time I’ve heard about pizza on the grill. Sounds lovely, quite frankly–moreso as a pizz’alad cuz that’s more my speed. Notsomuch fond of pizza. *laughing* Maybe that’s ‘stage of life’ fussy. Nah….LOLOL We dug the grill out for kebabs and it was lovely. Whoda thunk firing up the grill would chase away the pesty gnats.
STILL praying..hoping…for soon.
*hugs*
Awwww….thanks my friend…that means sooo much!
I know…pizz’alad is more my style too. Maybe it’s because pizza was pretty much plain or pepperoni with wings in my last state of residence and frankly…I’ve had enough….I hope no Buffalonians read this. [wink] But…a nice flavorful cracker-like crust with salad toppings…yummy!
Blessings sent your way this day!!!
You are always so sweet and gracious and I just love getting the chance to see what you’ve been creating! Your pizza looks soooo tasty! Thanks so much for sharing at this week’s Project Inspire{d} ~ pinning and sharing.
hugs ~ mary beth
Awww…MaryBeth…you are so kind to say that. Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. I had a little need to take a break from the social aspects of blogging. Isn’t it funny how something we love can become stressful? After guest hosting with the Monday Funday girls….I have a huge respect for what you do each week and am amazed how you do it all and take such good care of your family.
Blessing sent your way! [hugs]
Diane, this looks so delicious! I love grilling, but I’ve never grilled a pizza. I am your newest follower. By the way, I think your About Me page is great!
