I hope you didn’t feel any pressure by the question, Did You Create Something Beautiful Today?

When you hear the words create, creative, or creativity… what comes to mind?

A few days ago I needed to stretch my legs, but the wind was so fierce and the skies were randomly opening up with a creative mixture of precipitation, so I drove over to one of the ubiquitous shopping areas every medium sized town has. I first hit the dollar spot at TarJay and walked away empty handed. Then, just a few doors down, I popped into the HobLob. As I was cruising the aisles a journal on one of their end caps caught my attention.

The cover was emblazoned with the words, Create Something Beautiful Every Day.
Wow! I felt slapped in the face… in a good way.

So much so… I pulled out my phone and took a picture of the journal to post on Instagram.

BUT only after I took it from the shelf and walked down another aisle to find a piece of poster board to lay on the floor as the backdrop for the journal.  Then, I took snapped the picture.

Just reading this phrase, Create Something Beautiful Every Day, immediately inspired me to do something creative.

This isn’t big-time creativity.  But, taking my thought of sharing the quote on Instagram to another level by creating a moment… in the store… that was being creative.  And the beauty of it?  My happy meter soared.

Just last week I made a pretty soft yellow and blue wreath.  It puts a smile on my face every time I see it. I felt so good after making it I mentioned to my husband that I needed to put my creative juices to work every day. This little experience in the HobLob helped me to realize that I don’t need creative projects every day… I simply need to put on my creative glasses and see the numerous little ways I can express my creativity throughout the day.

It might be grabbing the camera and going for a walk to find interesting things to photograph. It might be experimenting with a new arrangement of things on my bookshelf.  Instead of tossing the salad for supper, I could take the time to artfully arrange the veggies.  It might be getting out those markers, paints, stamps, fun paper, or ______ and taking some time to play around with your new creative tools.

What inspires your creativity?  Do it!

I am so aware that we live in an infinitely creative world.  No two sunsets, clouds, snowflakes, fingerprints, eyes, are alike. God is so amazingly creative… I am in complete awe.

Scripture tells us that we are created in God’s image.  Just think… that means that we reflect His creativity. That’s pretty exciting to me. In fact, it’s empowering.

I hope you’ve just been inspired to get creative.

Do it because you were created to be creative.

Do it because it makes your heart sing.

Do it for self-discovery and the adventure.

And most of all, have fun exercising your creativity.

If you’ve been inspired today… but are afraid that you just might forget… because life is busy and messy… then print out this printable I made for you (and me).

I changed it from the journal… just a little.

You see… the words every day are similar to some time or often. There is no sense of urgency.

The phrase Create Something Beautiful TODAY encourages us to live in the moment.

It doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past. We can’t and shouldn’t live in the future. Our best living is today. right now. in this moment.

How will you be creative today?

I realized I wasn’t being creative. So I did a couple things this week. Made cards for my twin cousins. Made a flower arrangement for a friend from flowers in my yard. Painted a mason jar. Messed up a mason jar. ? Moved a giant jug to my sofa table to balance what is already there. I fixed a picture and framed it ( a piece of art). I put a new outfit together using already have them clothes. I wrote in my Journey of Joy book. I wrote a friend an encouragement. I watered my sort of mini gardens. Now I’m lying down. My head hurts
