Yummy Banana Snacks Kids and Moms will Love
Growing up… my dad was determined that I would eat foods that were good for me. Bananas were high on his list of nutritious foods and fortunately for me, I loved bananas. Many of my after-school snacks and suppertime desserts included bananas. Because my dad was generally the main cook at our house, he made easy to prepare snacks and desserts…. a small bowl of sliced bananas with a little sugar sprinkled over the top, Jell-o with bananas, and my favorite… banana or chocolate pudding with bananas. I could also count on have a half banana in my sack lunch a few times a week, too. Sometimes I wonder if eating all those bananas is the reason yellow is my favorite color.
After school, I often had figure skating lessons or ice time. Generally, my dad would pick me up from school and he’d have a half of banana and a milk drink of some type waiting for me to gulp down in the car on our way to the rink. I’m pretty certain if Sir Bananas™ had been on the dairy shelf, that surely would have been my dad’s go-to after-school drink for me. It’s not filled with a bunch of fake ingredients… it’s simple food… milk, banana puree, and cane sugar. Perfect for a figure skater or hockey player or any active child.
Because kids are always hungry after school, I like to give them more than a beverage to get them through their afternoon activities, so I came up with a super simple snack to pair with Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk that’s full of real banana goodness….
Chocolate Banana Strawberry Shortcakes
After school or on the weekend, the kids can help you whip up these easy chocolate shortcakes.
I purchased a Whoopie Pie Pan to create my shortcakes. There’s a great recipe on the pan’s sleeve, but I used a simple chocolate boxed cake mix and whipped it up according to the directions.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
After mixing up the cake batter, spoon the batter into the baking cavities 2/3 full, and then press the bottom of your spoon into the batter and swirl and press the batter to even it out and spread it to the edges of the baking cups.
Bake at 350 degrees for 9 minutes (or until the cake springs back to your touch).
Allow the mini shortcakes to cool for 8 minutes and then, using a thin spatula, lift them from the pan and place them on a paper towel or parchment paper until ready to use.
If you won’t be using them until later, place them in a covered dish.
Assemble Chocolate Banana Strawberry Shortcakes
You’ll need…
- Chocolate Shortcakes (previously baked)
- Ripe Bananas (sliced)
- Fresh Strawberries (washed and sliced)
- Whipped Cream
To assemble your shortcakes…
- Place one Chocolate Shortcake on your dessert plate
- Top with Whipped Cream
- Add Sliced Bananas
- Add more Whipped Cream
- Add Sliced Strawberries
- Top with Whipped Cream
- Place another Chocolate Shortcake on top of the Bananas, Strawberries, and Whipped Cream
- If you wish you can create a pretty top with whipped cream and a piece of strawberry or banana
- And serve alongside a chilled glass of creamy Sir Bananas™ Bananamilk
I whipped these up for some little friends of mine.
The pretty place settings made them feel so very special.
And the Chocolate Banana Strawberry Shortcakes were a real hit!
Especially washed down with the goodness of creamy bananamilk.

I could not wait to finish taking photos of my little banana party so I could enjoy all this banana goodness with my friends.
And mom… this is the perfect late night snack for you to indulge in… after the kids are all cozy in their beds.
I was able to pick up everything for my banana snacks at Walmart.
Here’s a little snapshot of where you can find this wonderfully yummy Bananamilk.

I could really go for one of these right now!!! I love strawberry shortcake, and adding bananas (and chocolate!!) sounds amazing! #client
It’s pretty mouthwatering. I didn’t mention that strawberry shortcake is my favorite food…next to cocoa made from scratch with real cream… and until recently I had never thought to add bananas. You can bet we’ll be eating this often.
Thanks for your kind words, Sarah. Have a blessed day!
Sounds yummy. I actually made myself this not long ago but sans bananas…also my favorite I’m hungry food that would be great like this!!!
Wish you lived nearby, Gwen… I’d bring a dish for you and your sweet husband. [hugs]
O-M-G! Delicious!! I have a thing about bananas – could be because I’m a huge Monkees fan…? – so this looks awesome.
