Almost every where we look this time of year, nature has something amazing for us to see.

Our world is a tapestry of color and texture.

Faux Fall Vignette :: Fall Quote :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

I couldn’t agree more with this quote:

Of all the seasons, autumn offers the most to man
and requires the least of him.
~Hal Borland

What a feast for our eyes and our senses!

And what a feast I had yesterday!!

I know I talked about getting out in that world and bringing the outdoors in.  Though I went out collecting yesterday, my next step is to assemble my finds and see if I can artfully photograph the beauties.   You’ll just have to wait a bit longer… [wink]

Today I thought I’d share a simple and earthy faux fall vignette I created at my friend’s home.

She had stopped at the local JoAnn’s and picked up a few items on sale…this fun bottle and the large sunflower pick with berries and fun leaves were just two of her finds.

The lovely tray was already gracing her table along with some summery votive candle holders.  The candle holders went into storage and I grabbed the tray for our vignette.   It makes a wonderful base for this collection of faux fall with its color and raised dot design, and echos the raised dots on the bottle.  What a happy coincidence!  Next, I raided her box of faux fall goodies.  I love how the green gourds and pumpkins provide a monochromatic complement to the bottle’s coloration with their similar shades of green.

Quickly I put this arrangement together.  The bottle was first placed on the tray, and then the dramatic pick of sunflower, leaves, and berries were added.  Next the assortment of gourds and pumpkins filled out the space.  Voila!  An earthy faux fall vignette for the sideboard!

    Hi, Diane!
I am getting caught up on your posts today & really like your photos & autumnal ideas for décor. Every fall I pull out some pretty beaded faux fruit I collected several years ago. I typically display them in my living & dining rooms in clear footed crystal bowls to lift them off the table surfaces. Then a couple of smaller ones nestle underneath directly on the table. But first I lay a doily in fall colors on coffee table & layer a round autumn-colors tablecloth over a sage green one for the dining table. Candleholders are fitted w/autumn candles/votives & I’m all set. What a blessed time of the year!

Your fall decor sounds so very lovely, Carolyn. I have no doubt that your guests feel so loved when they sit at your table and enjoy conversation in your welcoming rooms. This absolutely is a blessed time of year! 🙂 [hugs]

Thank you for sounding kind, upbeat. I look forward to quotes and your putting things together. I like this today. Today is my day of rest though I did put my corn of many years into a rooster hanging deal that looked funny empty. Hummingbirds and orange trumpet flowers fill my window. Ahh there he goes. Orange cosmos look their best now. God is good making autumn scenes I can see from inside.

There have been some wobbly days…but I’ve made a commitment to posting everyday through the end of October. Next to my time with HIM….it helps me to wobble a bit less. That being said…as wonderful as this place is…not being in my own place has it creative challenges, many times over. But…I just try to keep in mind that this is not “______” fill in the name of your favorite magazine. Instead…this “inbetween” is my place to trust and be.
I appreciate your encouraging words, Gwen. 🙂 And I love that you did a little fall fluffing and have hummingbirds and trumpet flowers to enjoy. What a spectacular sight!!! God is sooooo very good. Bless you my friend. 🙂

    Hi Diane,
Your Autumn arrangement is very pretty. Those picks sure do come in handy for many things. I really like using gourds and pinecones too. Thanks for sharing at my HOME and Autumn Blessings to you, Sandi

    • Diane says

Thanks Sandi! Not too many years ago I stuck my nose up at those picks. Today…I see them in a whole new way. 😉
      Happy Fall!!

  4. Very nice vignette–isn’t JoAnn’s a great place to find almost anything. I put one together this morning too.
    Ann

    • Diane says

How fun, Ann that you were able to put a vignette together today too!
      Hope your fall is Extraordinary!

First of all, I’d like to note that Hal was definitely NOT a farmer. LOL Fall is harvest season……and boy does that mean a bucket of work! 😉 But it’s a good bucket of work…..and it’s looking like an abundant harvest for this year. *crossing my fingers on that one!*
And this bit for a centerpiece is lovely. I’m a sucker for sunflowers this time of year. And I have a bag of sunflower decoration in the basement as proof! Undoubtedly I’ll have himself drag some of that up once the Halloween season has passed. We have too much fun with the wee kiddlings on Halloween! (and we eat too much candy…LOL)
Yup–definitely like the bottle with the tray….and the sunflower and gourds! 🙂 Gosh I love this time of year…… Bring on the fresh cider!!!!!!

    • Diane says

Haha!! Yeah…good point!!!! Good ole Hal was a receiver of all that work…and I’m guessing a grateful one too. I’m glad to hear that it looks like a good harvest this year. 🙂
I think the sunflower “makes” the whole vignette. Maybe someday I’ll grow a bunch…all the varieties. How fun that would/will be! A girl’s gotta dream. 😉
The time between Halloween and Thanksgiving is a fun decor time, too. 🙂 But speaking of cider…I think I’ll go pour a glass. Yum!!
Hope today finds you out exploring in the Jeep…even if it is “side saddle.” 😉

  6. Doni says

    Hi Diane!!
Thank you so much for sharing your post with us this week for Pearls and Lace Thursday! Yes, Fall is here and I even went outside this morning to snoop around and see what I can collect! Thanks for your take on Fall and the decor ideas! I am waiting for a lovely set of red red berries to turn and then I’ll have them grace my tablescape!
    Blessings,
    Doni

    • Diane says

Isn’t it so fun to see what goodness nature has for us to bring inside?
Thanks for your kind words, Doni!
May your weekend overflow with JOY!
