Have you ever embarked on a new project and then found yourself overwhelmed?

Maybe you’ve been working at something for a while, but things just haven’t clicked.  Or…

Maybe if you read another book on the subject and get some expert advice, you’ll figure things out.

Do you have a big dream - Churchill Quote

Most of us have hopes and dreams.

Have you noticed… some people not only reach their dreams, but those dreams are spectacular when they come to fruition?  While on the other hand, some seem to move from one hope or dream to another, with nothing to show.

I have a few dreams which have yet to come to fruition.

Last night I was talking to my husband about one of my dreams and I had a light bulb moment.

These days, there are several big obstacles to my dream.  One thing is for sure… I shouldn’t let the obstacles get in the way of realizing those dreams.  They may be a hindrance today… but those obstacles won’t always be in my way. The one thing I cannot do is let an obstacle stop me in my tracks.  I need to keep moving towards the goal.  And one day… with continuous effort… I will reach my dream(s).

My inbox contained this quote from Churchill.  It totally resonated with me when I read it.

“Continuous effort–not strength or intelligence–
is the key to unlocking our potential.”

Winston Churchill

I don’t need more information or whatever to move me towards my goals.  I just need to keep at it.  I need to press on.

Do you sense that you were created to do something significant?
Don’t wait around for it to happen… move in the direction of your calling.

Do you have a big dream… too big for you all by yourself?
Consider WHO instilled that dream in your mind and heart and trust HIM to guide you towards it… putting one foot in front of the other.

Are you like me… moving towards your goal or dream, but running into obstacles?
Keep moving.  Keep pressing forward.  Yes… there will be hindrances.  When you can’t step forward… step sideways… just keep moving.

If you said yes to the question, "Do you have a big dream?" you no doubt are facing obstacles. This Winston Churchill quote and 8x10 photo art print is a free download to print and frame as a helpful reminder to yourself to keep moving towards your dream.

“Continuous effort–not strength or intelligence–
is the key to unlocking our potential.”

Winston Churchill

It’s not our strength or our intelligence that is the key… it’s our effort.  Continuous effort.

If you want to have a healthy body, you have to exercise, you have to move.

You could go all out and become a body builder or triathlete.  But, if you’re looking at fitness for health, the best thing you can do is walk.  It’s something most can do, every day.

That putting one foot in front of the other will bring us good health.

And that putting one foot in front of the other is the continuous effort needed to move us toward our dreams as well.

What is your dream?
What do you need to do to realize your dream?

Wishing you an extraordinary day!
Diane

    What a wonderful post 🙂
My dream is someday for my husband and I to have a home.
I have been on my own since I was 6, my father a teacher wanted nothing to do with me and my brother after my parents divorced and he re-married. I lived with him until I was 18. On my 18th birthday he drove me to university and said your on your own. I worked nights and went to school during the day for 4.5 years. I have not had much contact with him since then.
My husband and I got married just last year, we couldnt afford a big wedding, we got married by the justice of the peace, weddings these days go for 25 thousand plus, and we never had a honeymoon. Were trying to save for a home, but it will be at least another 5 years or more before we can afford one, if were lucky.
I love him with all my heart, and if we never have our own place at least we have each other but a home of our own is our dream 🙂

Tonya… My heart was touched as I read your story of trial and hardship. With your perseverance, I have no doubt that you WILL have your house someday. My husband and I were blessed to be able to have our first house built after we were married for about 5 years and living in an apartment. I remember eating lots of soup suppers. 😉 In the meantime, I want to encourage you to make your current “home” your home. Sometimes we set our sights on the future and don’t live fully and beautifully in the moment we have. Enjoy creating memories with the love of your life! [[[hugs]]]

    Hi Diane!
I haven’t posted on here in a while, but when I saw this about dreams oh how I can totally relate. I have a couple of dreams I guess could call them. Currently I am taking online course through Liberty University. It has been a challenge, one to go back to school after such a long time, and two to discipline myself everyday to do my studies. I am praying God willing to possibly finish next year with a degree in Applied Science Medical Office Assistant. This is the first part of the other dream to be able to have a home again, I have been without work for a while with my husband and I living with my elderly mother in her home it has been a challenge. Taking a step in faith sometimes can be a little scary but to know that God is with me through it all is the best news possible!!! One day I believe God will bring about my dreams and yours too. He has His ways and His timing!! God bless you Diane!!!

Babette…I’m finding it takes a lot of work to reach our dreams. But when we believe they’re God-inspired, it makes us try harder and lean harder on God. Getting to live out our purpose is a wonderful blessing, too. I’m so excited for you as you work toward this new degree…and reach for your dream. You’ll make it with your hard work and faith, for sure. Having your own home is a great reason, too. God bless you my friend as you follow God and your dreams! [[hugs]]

I just want to help people in any way I can. I have helped start a Re-sale shop for a local ministry which was a dream of mine for many years. I lost that position 8 weeks later because of a not so honest person that was in charge at that time. God was good to get my name cleared about 2 months later. That has made me hesitant to get involved with that local ministry again. I still have the desire to help other’s and will as the Lord leads however, the dream to have a Re-sale for Ministry has been smashed for me.
Diane, you always have a way of getting me to dig inside myself and examine some things that I have pushed deep down. Thank you for being so faithful and honest about your walk with God !
God bless you and your readers that are working towards a goal/dream!!!

    • Diane says

Shirlene… you have such a beautiful heart. I’m so sorry that you lost your dream job… but never say never. God does have amazing ways to redeem things that should have been ours. They may not be exactly the same… but in some ways they will be better.
Thanks for your kind words. I love being a part of God at work in each other’s lives. Sometimes it’s hard to be transparent…. I’ve done my fair share of wrestling. It sure is worthwhile when I discover that it has helped you. Thanks for being a vital part of the An Extraordinary Day community. You bless me too!! [[hugs]]

Gosh, I hear people on a daily basis dripping with sarcasm retort “Just living the dream!” I’m graced that I get to say that I AM living the dream. And no way would I have been able to dream this big.
So, dare to dream big. And never stop putting that foot forward. 🙂

    • Diane says

Mel… in spite of all life’s challenges you’ve face… to ‘hear’ you say you’re ‘living the dream’ is truly incredible. You continuously inspire me. [[hugs]]
