It’s just mid June and already things are heating up.

Usually when it starts to warm up outside, we want to keep the house cool inside.

Cool off with Blue and White - Summer Decorating Tips - AnExtraordinaryDay.net

We can do things like close the windows and curtains to keep out the heat from the sun, strategically use fans, and if we’re blessed to have air conditioning, set the thermostat to a comfortable temperature.

All those things are great.  But, in the summer we can also turn the temp down and cool off with blue and white in our homes.

And to keep things fresh and simple for summer, I’ve also found that it also helps to make sure our horizontal surfaces are decorated simply and kept clutter free.

Last summer I transformed my sunroom to a blue and white oasis in the summer heat.  Click here to see how it made me feel cool and relaxed even though the temps were climbing sharply.

How do you keep things cool at your house when summer heats up?

And now…on to our party!

Welcome to Project Inspire{d}!

What a gorgeous day we have today here in Michigan!  As I was cleaning up my breakfast dishes, I saw hummingbirds and Baltimore Orioles from the kitchen window… what a treat!  I’d love to hear the sights of summer that you’ve spotted lately!

Speaking of the sights of summer….this week our picks are from two categories…kitchen makeovers and front door wreaths.  What happy coincidences!  Hope you enjoy the features and take time to visit and meet some new friends.

So without further ado…

Features from Last Week’s Party

My Pick….

Patti and her husband dramatically changed their kitchen on a budget.
I love how bright and cheerful it is now.  What a perfect spot to cook and entertain!

It’s just a little way to shower those of you who link up at An Extraordinary Day with some extra love!

Except this past week our world turned upside down, so I didn’t create a post.
How about next week you look forward to twice the features – 2 weeks worth?!

My co-hosts’ favorites from last week’s party….

I always love seeing what Mary Beth from Cupcakes and Crinoline,
Malia from Yesterday on Tuesday, and Stephanie from The Silly Pearl
choose to share with us each week!

Mary Beth’s Pick….

Taryn’s new kitchen is the perfect blend of modern meets industrial.
Don’t miss the amazing before and after shots, too!

Malia’s Pick…

Want to pretend you’re at the beach this summer?
Create a fun coastal-styled wreath with tons of color and pop it on your entry door.
I’m pretty certain, you’ll be feeling balmy breezes every time you pass by.

Stephanie’s Pick…

Amanda has a stunning dark blue front door.
I love how her American flag door wreath looks amazing against it for summer and all our patriotic holidays.

  5. Carolyn Ward says

    Dear Diane,
I am sooo sorry to read that your world turned upside-down. May God’s sweet Presence come in like a refreshing spring shower to replenish, strengthen & sustain you! This too shall pass! Keep holding on, keep believing, keep your face set to the goal. God does answer each & every prayer. He is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. Though problems may be many, & challenges be completely beyond our ability, He will summon His angels to surround us & protect us from the devourer. You are a very special, very beloved daughter of the Almighty King. He will not always keep silence. He will speak. He will say “Enough!” He will provide from His abundant storehouse.
Take comfort from knowing you are carved on the palm of His Hand. Many of us are calling out to God to send you just the solutions that are needed.
    Be abundantly blessed.

  6. Hi Diane! I love the blue and white, so much, it’s up in my house year round 🙂 We are getting hot here too, hope you are staying cool!

Melanie….this mitten state gal melts when it hits the high 70’s – teehee! But after this past winter….I will never complain. 😉
      Blessings!!

Hope your weekend has been extraordinary!

  8. Mel says

Go figure I’m late for the party. LOL. But I still get a good deal. I can peruse at my leisure! I’m glad the turnout continues to be so good! That’s amazing. It makes me happy for you. I know none of this is ‘work free’!

    • Diane says

You’re right….no one is ever to late to this party. [wink]
Haha…sometimes it’s as much work as the real deal. I don’t know I’ve ever had a carefree party. Oh…that’s probably more indicative of me though. 😉
      Blessings!!

  9. Loving the beauty of blue and white! I never thought how cool and refreshing it can be. I am thinking of renovating our kitchen as well. I guess I’ll have to start with the color.
