  10. Carol says

I just left this message on Homework and then realized that Carolyn is not the one who created the beach vignette so I am leaving you the message now.

I just linked up to Lavender Garden Cottage and I smiled when I saw you beach vignette. I just finished redoing our mantel with shells. And, I created a beach on a shell platter. I was washing a glass bowl full of sand and shells so I poured everything onto newspaper while I washed the bowl. It all looked so pretty when it was spread out that I couldn’t bear to just put it in the bowl.

All of that sand and the shells are quite special. The entire lot – sand and all – was brought back from the Maldives in 2001 when my husband was on a surf trip. When he and his buds planned the trip, we didn’t make the connection that our 30th wedding anniversary would fall in the 3 week window of the boat trip. So, those shells and the sand were my anniversary present since there was nowhere for him to buy any presents.

Happy Summer and enjoy your beach!
