31 Extraordinary Days to Be... AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Small Things

Being faithful in “small things” is about our character.  It takes discipline.  Daily.

Not only is it our attention to those “small things” that makes a difference in the world.  They make a difference in our personal lives too.

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.
Mother Teresa

Raise your hand if you find yourself in a wrestling match with this more often than you wish.  I sure do.  Maybe it’s laziness.  Maybe it’s selfishness.  For me…those two are character issues.

I don’t want my character diminished because of convenience.

You either?

Day 25 Challenge:  Sometimes it’s good to do a little self evaluation.  What are the “small things” with which you are faithful everyday?  What are the “small things” that you ignore or excuse?   The big question…what needs to happen to make a change?

Be…Strong!!

Diane

Boy…I’m a really disciplined gal. It took a whole lot to get me there, but it has been worth it. Anything in my ‘routine’ happens, even if later than the scheduled time. LOL. I won’t end my day without certain things ‘done’. I think that’s the end result of having a few folks put in my path who actually checked to ensure I did the follow through. Not everyone has that … nor do they probably require that. I did and still rely on that stucture, that discipline and the accountability to the structure and the discipline. That keeps me faithful to prayer, meditation, daily inventory of me, my actions and my attitude, and my adherence to the set of principles I call my own. It’s a constant for me. The small things to me are huge…but I can’t take them so seriously that I become paralysed or self condemning.
My inventory would put ego and fear in the top two… Soooo…
    My whining.
The ‘what’s in it for me’ / ‘where’s mine’ stuff.
And my stubborn, hard-headed refusal to just let things look like they really ARE.
What needs to happen to make that change?
Hahaha….fear and ego need to exit. I keep telling them to scram and they just will NOT listen. 😛

Just for the record….love the photo with the quote!! And cringe that I am the first responder….with a novel even!

Haha! I read and respond to comments in the ‘back room’ of the blog, so I hadn’t even noticed that you were first. 😉
Disciplines and routines are really healthy things in our lives. I have a hunch I could learn more about this from you. Certainly I have my long morning time….but beyond that I’m like a butterfly…or a jumping bean. :-/
I spend forever choosing photos and quotes…it totally makes my day that you ‘love’ it!! 🙂
