Day 29

What do you think when you read about someone celebrating their 6 month anniversary, or any increment of time other than the once-a-year variety?  Maybe you’ve done a little eye rolling, like me.

Then again, why not celebrate goodness in our lives?   Really.

Are you wondering where I’m going with this?

Today is the six month birthday/anniversary of the first post I published at An Extraordinary Day.   Shall we call it a Blogiversary?  I remember the excitement and the wee bit of fear and trepidation I had as I hit the publish button.  My words flinging themselves off into the great internet ether. Who would be seeing them?  Would anyone see them?  What would anyone think?

More than anything I wanted that first Joy Day! post to bless and encourage and inspire and hopefully be the beginning of An Extraordinary Day community.  I’ve since hit that publish button 90 times…I know it seems impossible…yet every time my desire is still the same.  It’s my prayer that somehow, in a way only God can do, my readers (you) click away after reading buoyed just a little bit…encouraged to press on and live life more fully, in spite of or despite the weather, the joys, hardships, or challenges on paths walked.

For some time I had been inspired by really good blogs like The Inspired Room, Chatting at the Sky, Nesting Place, Holly Mathis Interiors, Jones Design Company, Life in Grace,  Addicted 2 Decorating,  Reluctant Entertainer, and Blogging with Amy.   Though I haven’t really gotten to know these great ladies, I have made little connections with Melissa, Holly, and Kristi.  My blog list grew and I knew that I wanted to be a part of the blogosphere.  I wanted to believe that in some little (maybe great) way I could make a difference.

So, last November, just before Thanksgiving I embarked on the journey of setting up my An Extraordinary Day.  After doing lots of homework, I decided to self-host on WordPress.  I read tutorials and went through all the little details of setting up my blog and feeling pretty good about it.  But then, I hit a wall.  I needed to make it pretty and I needed coding to make the pretty work.  Try as I might, that piece of the puzzle just wasn’t coming easily to me.  So I did what any big dreaming, high achieving individual would do.  Yup.  I put it on the shelf.   Surely I would visit it again and everything would make sense.  Right.

Then one day I was scrolling through my Facebook News Feed and Kristi from Addicted 2 Decorating said that she was having fun with WordPress and was available to help anyone who needed assistance.  Shannon from Fox Hollow Cottage commented that Kristi was a ninja in helping her sister.  What did I have to lose?  I contacted Kristi and then we e-mailed back and forth.  Putting my ideas and dreams down so that she could discover my heart for the blog, I sent them off with high hopes.  Kristi did not disappoint.  She did everything I needed, like creating the beautiful banner and overall prettiness you see here, and much more!  {Thanks & Hugs Kristi!!!}  She then “ordered” me to write and publish.   Blank screen before me…Joy Day! was birthed and still kicks off each week with gratitude.

Here we are today.  You and I….90 posts later!!!

Happy Blogiversary An Extraordinary Day!!

You may or may not be interested in blogging.  It doesn’t matter.

  • What little dream do you have in your heart?
  • What’s getting in the way of taking the first or last step of making that dream a reality?

Whatever it is.  Write it down…make it public…in “Share Your Thoughts” below.  It will make that dream even more real.  And it, just maybe, might be the little bit of push needed to set it all in motion.  Take that step to be Extraordinary!

Why be Ordinary when You CAN be Extraordinary!

Every celebration requires some acknowledgement and gratitude.  I think I’ve got the acknowledgement covered.  The gratitude part…here it comes!

Thank YOU!!  All this is nothing if it doesn’t connect with you…my reader.  Thank you for reading, commenting, and subscribing.  You make my day, my week, and the past six months!  May we get to know one another, share in each other’s joy, and sorrows too.  Let’s bless each other and live this amazing, God-breathed life, to the full, for his honor, joy, and glory!!

Love,

Diane

Will you join me each day in October for…
