As we finished up supper the other day I was surprised to look out the window and see how dark it was. The next morning, the sun didn’t seem to break the horizon until after 8 a.m. With hardly a notice… we slipped into the season of darkness.
There’s another kind of darkness that we all seem to have slipped into as well…. it’s the darkness of our world. It’s almost palpable. I’m sure you’ll agree that the darkness is pervasive on social media, especially in regards to the upcoming election.
It might come through fear of the future…. anger and disagreement about candidates or issues… truth, lies, or misinformation… and sometimes downright meanness.
From November 1 to the 8th I will be joining up with some like-minded bloggers for the #bethelightchallenge. We want to shine the light of Jesus into those dark places in our world and especially on social media. And we want to invite you to join along with us.
Here are the participating lifestyle bloggers who will be holding up the light….
Salvage Sister & Mister on November 1
11 Magnolia Lane on November 2
An Extraordinary Day on November 3
Plum Doodles on November 4
Blessed Lonestar Mess on November 5
At the Picket Fence on November 6
Real Girl’s Realm on November 7
The Homemakers Journal on November 8
In the days leading up to the election, we will share tips on how to navigate these challenging and dark days with love and grace.
Topics of the Be the Light Challenge will help us consider…
- How to share opinions (political or not) in a godly manner
- How to guard our hearts and minds
- How to deal with conflict online
- Setting limits/boundaries (1 Corinthians 6:12)
- Encouraging/building others up
- Developing and using the Fruits of the Spirit
In addition, there will be free printables, devotionals and more from each participating blogger. Be sure to stop by each day to be encouraged and challenged.
You are the light that gives light to the world. ~Jesus
