Wow!  Talk about a fast change in the weather.

Two days ago I set up a space in the basement to work where it’s cool, because it was in the high 80’s.  And today, I don’t think we got past 45 degrees and there are winds gusting up to 30 mph.  Oh, and there’s a freeze alert tonight too!!  I know, it’s May and anything goes, but I am so ready for just plain spring.  Summer can take her time.  I just want to relish in a bit of spring.  I want to enjoy the Rhododendrons, the Iris, and the Cornus Kousa Dogwoods for more than a day.  How about you?

Having said all that.  My level of discomfort is nothing compared to all those in Oklahoma and Texas who were hit hard by the tornadoes.   They continue to need our constant prayer.  And remember…our prayers make things happen!

I love this quote from Lady Bird Johnson….

“Where flowers bloom so does hope.”

Here’s an Irish from my garden….the first of the perennial flowers to bloom.

And yes…my heart is filled with hope.  May yours be too.

It was another Extraordinary Week on the blog!

We began another week with Joy Day! and a post about some things I’m learning the hard way.  Sunday night I was back as I am blessed for 6 weeks to join the team of gals who host Monday Funday….a fabulous link party…overflowing with inspiration.  Don’t miss it this week…the fun starts at 7 PM EST.  It’s planting time for many of us and I shared a thorough tutorial for planting a successful window box garden.  Container gardening is a passion of mine and I love sharing tips.  I wanted to participate in two link parties this week.  Marty from a Stroll Through Life was hosting a “Cloche Party” and Cuisine Kathleen was hosting a “Memorial Day Tablescaping Party.”  There isn’t enough time to do two posts…especially as I had forgotten until the last minute….so I did a “two-for” with my Patriotic tablescaping ideas.  And finally I wrapped things up with a terrific tip I found on Pinterest.  This was one little project that made my heart very happy.  I guess, the week wasn’t just extraordinary….it was busy too!!

Humbled and blessed.

Ah–I see our weather finally caught up with you. Yup–we dropped dramatically…..not frost, thank goodness, but boy, what a change in the temperature. And rain–which isn’t an all bad thing given the crops are peeping through and looking like they mean to grow. It also means I won’t be battling with the evil garden hose to water the flowers on the patio. LOL
I’m such a fan of the iris–simple beauty. I gave the bulbs we had to dig out of the yard to the neighbor–who kindly planted them in a spot facing the patio so I could continue to enjoy them. LOL They’re so simple and elegant.
And I’m NOT a fan of shopping–but I am a fan of baskets and sales(!) so I’ll go for a wander.
And I’ll take some time this rainy morning to visit some of those folks who linked up to you on Monday. Sounds like a good way to spend the rainy Saturday!
Have a good one–and oohhhhh…..setting up a wee place in the basement sounds like fun! 🙂

Ha! This time I’m not going to say ‘thank you very much’ for the weather!! 🙂 We missed the freeze thankfully. The winds died down but did not cease and we had a cloud cover. Whew!! But at 7:30 when I checked it was all of 36 degrees. Brrr…and those winds…still coming. But, at least we have a peek at the sun occasionally. I’m sorry it raining for you. 🙁
I agree about the iris….they are so elegant. And how cool is it that your neighbor planted them for you to still enjoy! Yay!!
The place in the basement….nice and cool on a hot day. 🙂
Any plans for the holiday weekend? Maybe a visit from that cute little one?

did you see my irises I posted last week on my wall? I wish someone would come get some of them! a friend reminded me that in years past she did get some and is enjoying them at her house now. I also asked what the little purple flowers are that are all over my yard. this friend thinks they are perennial geraniums. I was hoping you would see them as I’m sure you know what they are! take a look if you have a chance please!
    hugs!

Hmmm…I missed the Glenda, but I am on my way now to go check them out!
Blessings for a wonderful Memorial Day and weekend! [hugs]

  3. Your Iris is beautiful and i love the quote. Off to check out your “retiring” products!

    • Diane says

Thanks Barbie! We planted it last spring, moving it from another part of the yard. Since we’ve only lived here since 10/12 we had never seen it bloom. And oh my…what a delightful surprise!! Doesn’t God bless us richly in some of the smallest ways? I’m slowly putting on the ‘retiring’ items…it’s taking more time than I realized it would. Haha! What’s new?!
Hope your heart is renewed this day and filled with joy! [hugs]

  4. Lovely photo and quote! How I would love to enjoy your garden in person 🙂

    • Diane says

Shortly after I took that photo the wind picked up and the stem bent over. So I cut it and I’ve been enjoying that blossom for a few days in the house and just today it withered up as Iris do. Thanks for your lovely thoughts, Jessica. I would be delighted to have you over….oh the distance…[sigh]

  5. Jen says

    That iris is beautiful!

  6. Love photo and love the quote!

Thanks for linking up to The Creative HomeAcre Blog Hop. We hope to see you again this Sunday!
