How’s your day?

I’m hoping that today’s been a good day, or at the worst, something we can call normal.

Do you mind stopping a second to look back over the past several hours?

We’ve had numerous blessings…

A bed to sleep on, a bite to eat, dishes to wash, places to go, people to see…

And so much more!  Consider each a blessing.

Give thanks for each one.

We often take these common, everyday blessings for granted.

Tomorrow, things might change and we may or may not have one or more of these blessings.

When that happens… our worlds just might come undone.

Or will they?

What to do so your day does not unexpectedly unravel.

If we’ve taken the time to give thanks to the Giver of every good and perfect gift, somehow, in a way I do not understand, we won’t come undone.

Our worlds won’t unravel.

Sure… there’s tension in the warp and weft of the fabric of our world.

But, if we’ve keep our hearts thankful and our eyes on the Giver we won’t unravel.

Hemming blessings with the threads of thankfulness makes all the difference.

Hem your blessings with thankfulness - Printable Quote

Hem your blessings with thankfulness so they don’t unravel.

This is Holy Week.

As you contemplate the events leading up to Jesus’ death and ultimately his resurrection, consider how each one is a blessing that will keep and sustain you.  This week is the perfect time to practice thankfulness for all Jesus did for us.  His sacrifice changed our world.

Times will get tough.  Unexpected winds will blow.

Let’s hem our blessings with thankfulness so they don’t unravel.

My grandmother had a plate in her kitchen, now mine, which had this poem
” Thank God for dirty dishes.
They have a tale to tell.
    While others may go hungry,
    We’re eating very well”

so I’m *sewing* up the end of today with a “hem” of thanksgiving. Thanks for your post.

I feel like I understand the deep meaning here. The bEst time I think to prepare for unknown tough Times is when all is well and when I was young and memoriZed lots of verses that the Holy Spirit brings to mind noW in my season. I felt so odd the other day. CryinG for I felt I couldn’t find JESUS. I am alone but I feel Him. I looked as a child calling for Him and crying But then I remembered Now Gwen Praise Him even when He is silent. So I praised Him. I sat crying and I heard now I forget. But it was a verse. I stopped crying. I became quiet. And I cried no more. Even in dark days of great trials God can be found. In devotions, a book, my Bible, a hymn….and yes that is how I do not unravel when I’m worn. Your trials have been as long almost as I’ve followed your blog. But you continue to point us to CHRIST. And today, I even watched the Biblical EASTER Story acted out with puppets and it was so accurate Biblically it did make me focus more on CHRIST.

  4. I love your words!

I try to take time each and every day to reflect upon the many blessings that I have! I agree, it is a blessing to be able to do dishes. That means that we had food to eat and dirty those dishes. I feel it’s so important to look for the good in every little thing! Happy Easter and thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
