Fall finally made her official arrival last week! That means it's time to peruse the farm markets, pull out that stash of all things fall you've got tucked away in the closet, and scope out the woodlands, highways, and byways for fall decor. I'm excited to inspire you with these 9 lovely ways to decorate your mantel for fall. No mantel?  No matter.   Today we're making another stop at my friend's home to see her lovely living room dressed for fall. Earlier in the season I showed you her jewel-toned dining room, her stunning entryway, and I showed off my book page pumpkins on her screen porch.     This past weekend I was at her home and finally the sun came out so I could get some good shots of her living room.   In between a trip to the farmers' market and breezing out for a stop at the hob lob, I grabbed my camera and shot a few photos.  I didn't take a lot of photos... this is pretty much everything.  This was not a photo … [Read more...]

Happy First Day of Spring! With all the snow we've had this year, you would think that I'd steer far away from white for spring. And listen to some toe-tappin' music.     When it comes to seasonal  home decor,  I'm all about simple and using what you have on hand. And...because I love all things book page, I decided to use book pages and hand-cut shamrocks in decorating the mantel for St. Patrick's Day. This little project was … [Read more...]

Raise your hand if you have decorated your valentine mantel or some area of your house only to have members of your household tell you it's pretty ordinary? Did you see my hand go up? Yup.  It did. That's what they said in not so many words. It's not a good thing when your blog name includes the word, "extraordinary."     Remember my winter birch branch mantel with the hand cut book page snowflakes? I liked that "mantelscape."  It was different.  And it seems that since it's being featured a few places, some of you like it too. Why not tweak it just a bit for Valentine's … [Read more...]
