I love the word metamorphosis. You too? This weekend, I had a sun room metamorphosis of sorts, as I notched up my spring decor. You'll remember I talked about it last week here.  And before that, I decorated it with red and snowflakes for winter here, and for Valentine's Day here, and for Christmas here.     The biggest change is the addition of flowering branches. Do you see them? They were so. very. difficult to photograph.  Seriously impossible. In my quest for decent pictures I took photos on multiple days.     You'll notice that some of the … [Read more...]

He is risen!     He is risen indeed! This greeting is exchanged by Christians all over the world on Easter Sunday.   And with good reason. Jesus had predicted his torturous death and resurrection to his disciples.  Read about it here. Certainly it was unbelievable to them at that time.  And then, what a turn of events. In one week, Jesus went from being heralded as a king, the Messiah who would save the people from their unfair rulers and bring about a just kingdom on earth....to an innocent man, tried, convicted, and crucified.  Oh the grief.  The disciples could not comprehend how … [Read more...]

Easter... Eggs.  Baskets.  Candy.  Flowers.  Blessings. Easter is the most meaningful holiday our family celebrates.  And though we enjoy the traditions of eggs, baskets, candy, flowers, and blessings....for us....it's all about the cross. I thought I'd take a moment and share a quick … [Read more...]

In preparation for the joyous celebration of Easter, I decided to do something I've wanted to do for a long time.... Create a piece of colorful subway art.  An Easter printable.   For me, thinking through and meditating on the words as I created this piece has been a time of worship.  You might find it helpful in a similar way too.  It's a nice way to remember and celebrate the resurrection of Christ and the sacrifice made. How do you observe Holy Week?   Where the words 'third day' appear, I originally had 'Easter Sunday.'  My husband suggested to me that this piece would … [Read more...]

Cry out with joy, O daughter of Zion! Shout jubilantly, O daughter of Jerusalem! Look—your King is coming; He is righteous and able to save. He comes seated humbly on a donkey, on a colt, a foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9   The Voice (VOICE)   Palm Sunday.... a day when we wave palm branches and sing for JOY!  What significance does Palm Sunday hold for you?     It's Joy Day! Today is the day when we take time to look back over our week and count gifts/blessings.   The good, and yes, the not so good things that happened in our lives. And we give thanks to God for … [Read more...]

My small group was getting together for dinner and I was preparing my favorite quick and easy vegetable side dish recipe...Far East Celery.  It's my go-to recipe that everyone always raves about.  And I love that it goes so well with beef, turkey, chicken, and fish dishes and I'm quite certain it will make a sensational side dish for a ham dinner, too.     With Easter dinner quickly approaching, I'm thinking many of you are putting together your menus right now.  Far East Celery would be perfect on the Easter buffet.  So, as I was purchasing my ingredients, I knew I needed to share my recipe … [Read more...]

What colors elicit the feeling of Spring for you? Yellow is one of my favorite colors, so when the Daffodils begin blooming, it's like I see happiness popping up all over my world.     Several years ago as I was going through my parents' cupboards....you know the way-up-high kitchen storage that once an item goes up there, no one ever sees again?   That's where I found this yellow Crocus planter.  As I was trying to decide what to put together without spending a dime, I remembered that bright yellow pot I had taken home with me.  It was the starting place for this yellow, blue, and … [Read more...]

Welcome! From the moment you step foot on the brick pathway to my front door, I want you to feel welcome. For me, hospitality starts outside my front door. When you come to the door, my goal is for you to already be sensing that you are important and valued.   In addition to laying down the welcome mat a great way to make our homes look and feel inviting is to add a seasonal wreath to the front door.       Beautify the Front Door for Easter with a Burlap & Pastel Grapevine Wreath As you might guess, I have a few seasonal wreaths that I change out … [Read more...]
