Are you getting excited for the 4th of July?

Yes, I am.  This week I plan to do a little flag waving.

At this point, I still can’t find my small American Flags (Which box from the move are they still hiding in?).  But we do have Old Glory flying on the front of our house.

Today I discovered an old bolt of American Flag ribbon.  (A garage sale cast-off!)  After staring at it for a few minutes, there were fireworks.  Haha, just a little creative thinking going on in my heard.  I started playing around with the ribbon and came up with not just one wreath, but TWO!!

After all the fun of making the wreaths and lots of picture-taking along the way I started to put together the tutorials.  Seriously, I’m amazed at how much time it takes to go through photos and put a tutorial together.  So…in my zeal to ‘show off’ my new wreaths, I’m forgoing the tutorials for today.  I’ll post them later if you want me to.  If you’d like the tutorials…please share your thoughts below.

So, without further ado….

I present to you…..

Two!  Red – White – and Blue – Patriotic Wreaths!

Homespun Americana Wreath

Dollar store form with homespun fabric and American flag ribbon wrapped wreath

This wreath features a $store foam wreath form wrapped with strips of homespun Osnaburg fabric, the American Flag Ribbon wrapped over the homespun fabric, and topped off with Osnaburg fabric flowers.

Currently gracing a corner in our sun room, this wreath adds just  a perfect bit of  Americana.

The beauty of the Homespun Wreath is that after I’m 4th of July’d out…I can quickly whip off the flag ribbon and have a blank slate to create again.

The Patriotic Longaberger Basket Wreath

Longaberger Basket Wreath for the 4th of July

My Longaberger Warm Brown Medium Basket Wreath has just been hanging around, a bit bare.  I placed some ribbon around it and immediately came up with the first part of a plan.  After the ribbon strips had been placed around the Basket Wreath I wasn’t sure how to complete it.  But then, a firecracker when off and I decided to make a ribbon rosette.  Where was the rosette to go?  I had no idea until it was complete.  Then, I quickly realized it fit perfectly into the middle of the wreath.  Voila!  That was easy!  I added a hanger and attached it to some framed music that resides over my piano.  What do you think?

Longaberger Basket Wreath with a Patriotic theme

Just for fun I found some old piano music to complement the red, white, and blue color scheme, and thus created a little moment with my wreath.  Again, this was a simple wreath to make.  The beauty is that everything is pinned and placed for easy removal, yet I don’t have to worry about it coming apart.  The rosette was the most difficult part, and that was simply because I accordion folded 6 feet of ribbon.

So…there you have it.  If you want to know the nitty gritty | how to.  I’ll be happy to provide the tutorial.

I have a friend coming for a few days.   We’ll have lots of fun for sure!

What are your plans for the 4th of July?

Joyfully waving the red, white, and blue!

      Thanks for stopping by Zorrie!
The contrast kind of gives the wreath a whimsical feel, I think…

      Hope your 4th was Extraordinary!!

  5. I love Longaberger! I love how you have it hanging in front of an existing framed picture – a creative idea! So glad you joined up with Studio JRU…

Thanks Cindy! I really appreciate your encouragement. Hanging the wreath over the framed art makes a bigger impact/presence on the large space over the piano, I think. And I’m excited to have found Studio JRU!! What an inspiring place.
