So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.
There we will receive his mercy,
and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Hebrews 4:16 – NLT

What is the feeling that comes over you when you read this verse?

Me? I feel empowered.

Park Bench at Sunset - Hebrews 4 vs.16 - AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Picture someone in your mind who is wonderfully wise, strong, and loving.  He knows you well.  He truly cares about every. single. thing. in your life.  He always wants the best for you.  He has all the time in the world for you…to listen and to talk.  And he has every resource available to make things happen.

What a blessing for anyone to have someone like that in their life.   Do you?

I do.

That’s my God.

I don’t have to hang my head and mumble.  I can ‘walk’ right up to him and he welcomes me.  We can talk about anything.  I want to tell him how wonderful he is and how much I love him.  And he wants to demonstrate his love for me and his power.  So much so that he encourages me to “…not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks.”    Jesus told his disciples (that’s us, too!) this, “If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it.”   The Apostle Paul writes, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!”

Doesn’t this give you courage and boldness?

Winter Sunset through the trees | Hebrews 4:16 | AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Right now I’m learning to pray big crazy audacious prayers.  I’m going boldly before God, trusting that I will receive mercy and find grace.  And if I need any extra confidence I’m encouraged by what Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ.”  Wow!

What’s weighing you down right now?
Will you go to God boldly?

Come before him in great expectation.
Ask boldly, fully expecting him to do even more than you ask.

As I was writing this I was reminded to go back to a devotional book I was reading in November.  This is what I read on November 2 in Streams in the Desert:

Do we truly know the power of our supernatural weapon of prayer?  Do we dare to use it with the authority of a faith that not only asks but also commands?  God baptizes us with holy boldness and divine confidence, for He is looking not for great people but for people who will dare to prove the greatness of the God!  ~ A. B. Simpson

That’s why we can go boldly to the throne of our Gracious God.  When we do, we prove the greatness of our God!!

I’m pretty excited to prove his love and greatness.  You too?

Boldly praying,

Diane

Oh, I adored the door in the post–and here I am loving the snow photos. Gosh, they’re awesome with the sunlit sky–and I adore the footprints (for obvious reasons).

What’s weighing you down right now?
Well, the answer to that is perpetually…ME. Me and my silly sense of specialness, impatience, and self importance! I’ve had my whine on, lately. Oh, but it’s not been at the price of gratitude, believe it or not. I simply enjoy a good whine! 😉 But I do know it’s me and this 40 pound cast, the isolation from others and the bit of me that feels alienated from what I’m purposed to be doing. *sigh* Sucks–but it’s always amazing when I get used by Him even in isolation! He’s gooooooooooooood! 😉
Will you go to God boldly?
Oh, it’s not that ‘boldly’ that I struggle with. It’s ‘with great humility’ that’s difficult for me. I tend to be a bit–independent. That can be a really good thing…..and that can be a really not good thing. LOL

    • Diane says

Oh yes….we do struggle with humility. We sure do.
I get the whine. Though not with a 40 lb. cast. Ugh. When we aren’t out and about we can easily get myopic. That I know. Just so you know….you are blessing me and no doubt many others even with that ball and chain on your leg. I’m pretty sure there would be a corporate ‘thank you’ for your wonderful encouragements and prayers.

  6. My first post this year was the force of expectations and how God wants to be a giver, a deliverer but we shortchange him with our limiting thoughts. He is so good, and knows what we need. He wants to show his boldness and greatness, but we also need to be bold in our prayers and expectations. Beautiful post and photos.

    • Diane says

A big Amen to that Angie!
Thank you for taking time to come by and leave truth and sweet words.

Your pictures are so pretty! Isn’t it amazing to think what God has already done for us and will do for us? Humbling, too!

    • Diane says

Yes…to think he created all this for us. I agree, Susan, it is humbling.
