Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

Many of us are thinking about how to set a beautiful and bountiful table.

Thanksgiving Table Setting :: Mixing Gold and Silver for Thanksgiving :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

As I was dreaming about table decor, I remembered that this past New Year’s table would be perfect for Thanksgiving.

Actually…it’s probably even more appropriate when you look at the elements of the table.

Plus, mixing gold and silver in home decor is gaining in popularity right now.

So…why not think about mixing gold and silver for Thanksgiving to create a truly elegant table setting?

Mixing #GoldandSilver for #Thanksgiving Using Nuts and Pine Cones and Faux Leaves :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

The key elements were leaves and nuts and pine cones.

The nuts came from the supermarket.

The leaves from Dollar Tree.

And the pine cones came from my yard.

Besides those natural elements, you’ll need a can each of silver and gold spray paint.

All of these things became metallic with a few spritzes from the paint can.

#ThanksgivingTablescape :: Mixing Gold and Silver for Thanksgiving :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

In addition to mixing silver and gold for Thanksgiving with natural elements, I mixed silver and gold at each place setting as well.

Since I already had the silver chargers, I picked up some clear acrylic plates, which I think are actually wedding cake plates, from Dollar Tree.  I spritzed them with gold spray paint and that gave the gold element to the place setting.  Inexpensive and just that extra touch.  (Note: These spray-painted plates are not for serving food.  Use them only as mini chargers.)

Take a look at your stash of hurricanes, candle holders, and glassware, and mix and match what you have, or take a quick trip to the thrift shop or dollar store to see what you could add to your tablescape.

I used a mix of vintage and new glassware and silverplated elements to create drama for the centerpiece.

Have fun with it!  And be sure to check out this New Year’s post, the springboard to inspiring us to start mixing gold and silver for Thanksgiving, or even Christmas.

I would love to hear your ideas too!

  3. Wow Diane I was thinking of using silver and gold also. Great minds think alike! Excellent job with the centerpiece, it’s very elegant.

    • Diane says

Why is it that we’ve kept the golds and silvers (and other metallics for that matter) in separate camps? It’s high time we united our warm and cool metallics! [wink] I’ll look forward to seeing what you put together. You will be sharing it? Yes?
Thanks for the kind words Sandra and for taking the time to pop by!
