Raise your hand if you want God’s blessing.

Generally when we pray, we ask God to bless us.

As I was reading this verse I had an AH HA moment…

God tells us what we can do to receive his blessing.

Depend on the Lord - Psalm 37:5 ~ Missing God's Blessing :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Depend on the Lord;
    trust him, and he will take care of you.
Psalm 37:5

We often admire people who are self sufficient.

I was brought up to be self sufficient.

But…there’s a danger in self sufficiency.

If we’re self sufficient we don’t need other people.

And we may fall into the dangerous mindset of thinking we don’t need God either.

And, if we’re not “needing” God…we probably won’t be trusting him.

If we’re self sufficient….we miss out.

We miss out on God taking care of us.

We miss out on having his guidance and direction.

We miss out on receiving his blessing.

Depend on the Lord;
    trust him, and he will take care of you.
Psalm 37:5

This is a verse with a blessing.

Depend on God…

trust him….

and the result is…

God will take care of us.

How to receive God's blessing :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Sometimes I hear friends say, “God’s too busy for me.

They believe he has bigger things to deal with than them and their life and their concerns.

That’s the farthest thing from the truth.

Just look at this verse.

Are you wondering what you’re supposed to do with your life?

Depend on the Lord.  Trust him.

Are you wondering how to please God with your life?

Depend on the Lord.  Trust him.

Are you feeling overwhelmed with people, things, or responsibilities?

Depend on the Lord.  Trust him.

Seems a bit too easy doesn’t it?

In some ways it is.

God doesn’t make things complicated.

He even gives us blessings for leaning on him.

What are you doing to receive God’s blessing?

  4. Kim says

    I’m playing catch-up again, Diane, so I’m late. I love this post! (Don’t I say that every time? If I don’t, please know that I say it to myself, at least.) Sometimes the most simple concepts are the hardest to apply. Why do we put God in a box? He can do all things! Small..HUGE…and all in between. I’m praying for all sizes of blessings for you and Tim! 🙂

    • Diane says

      You’re so sweet Kim! I know that feeling of being behind….as you may have noticed….I haven’t been by “your house” either. 😉
      Thanks for your kind words and prayers, friend. It’s probably obvious that I’m still working through these things too. 😉 [hugs]
