I had the most amazing week, Thursday afternoon.

My week was so busy, it went by in a blur.

But one moment of time stood out.

Have you ever had a week like that?

What was that ONE moment?

For me… I had an important phone call to make….and I was dreading it.  It was one of those times when I felt totally helpless, inadequate, and lost.  The matter of concern had also been a matter of prayer…for some time.   This day I needed to press the numbers on the keypad and connect with the unknown.  I needed help.

Just before making my phone call I asked my husband if he would pray with me.  He prayed.  And then I followed.  I didn’t know why, but I prayed these words: “Lord, your Word tells us that you will fight our battles for us.  Would you please take ‘this’ up and fight for me?  Thank you…I know that you will do amazingly more than I can ask or imagine.  Amen.”

Here is the scripture that was the basis for my prayer:

Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again.  The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  Exodus 14:13-14.

You probably know the Bible story of Moses and the Israelites and their escape from Pharoah and the amazing miracle of the crossing through a parted Red Sea.

At this point in the true story Pharaoh’s mighty army was bearing down on the Israelites as they camped by the sea, they were sure they were going to die.  But, God gave Moses a 4-part response plan for the people:

  • Don’t be afraid
  • Stand firm
  • Be still
  • Watch God fight for you and deliver you, today.

Amazing.  Their directive did not include weapons or armor or even creating some sort of protection from their enemy.  Essentially…it was a do nothing plan.

How many times are we in a difficult situation where there appears to be no way out or no answers and so we start flailing around doing all kinds of things to fix it.  Doing.  We are such doing people.  It is so not us to do nothing.  To be still and watch God fight for us.

The result of my conversation?  Amazing, ” immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”  God gave me peace of mind, fought for me and provided a miraculous outcome.  One moment.  One day.  Unforgettable.

What is it that’s weighing on your mind?

What burden do you carry that is unbearable?

What is it that seems impossible?

Circle this scripture in prayer:   “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today.  ….  The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”  Exodus 14:13-14.

Trust the God who created you to fight for you.  He loves you.  So much.  And thank Him in advance for the amazing way He will answer your cry and fight for you.

  5. I’m a re-beginner using Pinterest, mostly for business and don’t usually just sit down to look, but I checked in today and as I was scrolling down I saw your pin; Exodus 14:13-14 has been spoken to me more times than I can count, yet today’s battles seem to loom larger than ever before. He’s always saved me before and there’s really no evidence to suggest that this would be the one time He would fail, yet my flesh still has a hard time trusting. Thanks for posting, sharing your victory and encouraging to trust further. I am taking it to heart that the Lord has heard and is answering even though I cannot see what He’s doing. Cyndi

      Cyndi… I know that place where the battles seem impossible. Trusting God seems like it should be easy… but sometimes it takes all the willpower I have and other times it’s laying my ‘self’ down completely. Challenging for a gal with control issues. 😉 But… when I get myself out of the way and let God work… that’s when I see amazing things happen (though often not in my time frame). Thanks for sharing your struggle, Cyndi… praying you SEE the victory soon. HE is able to do more than we can ask or imagine. {hugs}
