This morning the sun was shining,
the birds were singing,
and my heart was filled with joy.
What a great start to the day!
Maybe your day didn’t begin like that. Actually mine didn’t either. I woke up to grayness and fog. But soon the sun broke through and now, I’m reveling in the beauty of the day. I’ve forgotten about the gray. I’m living in the sun (Son). That is how I can say, “What a great start to the day!”
My friend, that’s what happens when we count our blessings.
If you’re new here, last week I put out this challenge:
Take the Joy Dare at: One Thousand Gifts. Or find ONE THING to be thankful for each day and write it down. Then, come back next week and share your joys. What fun we’ll have! Bits of joy each day of the week. Plus, sharing in each others’ joys is the BEST way to begin the week!”
Did you do it?
We love blessings. Who doesn’t want to receive a blessing? It’s even better to bless others.
Have you ever thought that you could bless God?
When we count our blessings. When we do as that old, old song says and, “name them one by one.” When we give God thanks for each one. We ARE blessing GOD. Wow!
WE…puny little dots on this tiny planet in a ginormous universe, WE can bless THE God who created ALL of it and each of us. That is mind boggling. What a privilege.
So, let’s get to it! Let’s put on JOY!
Let’s bless each other….AND the God of the universe!
I’ll start with my seven….
- cats lapping up salmon ‘juice’
- unexpected business
- an unpleasant task done in obedience
- the trill of the Oriole
- contemporary worship in an 1800’s church
- dinner & conversation with new friends
- 1940’s children’s book for fifty cents.
Now it’s your turn!
