It’s rare to hear someone say, “It’s the bee’s knees.”
It is, however, a very fun expression.
I love whimsy and this expression is whimsy all the way.
Do you like bees?
Most people run whenever a bee buzzes by.
Me? I think I just put on these boots. [wink]
Now I must admit that I’m not a fan of yellow jackets and wasps, though I am no entomologist, I don’t think wasps are bees. At least not in my world.
Bumble bees of all sizes, and honey bees and their cousins, are frequent visitors to my garden. And if one chooses to garden, one must make alliances with the bees. Sometimes I actually enjoy their company while I weed.
I have read that bumble bees are not capable of flying….but they do.
God knows best. I think maybe he chuckled about the bumbler when he created that little bundle of joy.
By now you are thinking that I like bees. Well yes I do. In fact, enough so that I actually have a board on Pinterest.
Guess what it’s called?
Uh huh….It’s the Bee’s Knees.
All the photos on the blog today are from my Pinterest board.
Just for fun, I decided to share a few with you today.
I guess I needed a little whimsy in my day.
Do you ever need a bit of whimsy in your day?
Oh…and for the record….I looked up the origin of “It’s the bees knees.” There were several ideas, I liked this one best. And since I find it difficult to understand Shakespeare, especially Macbeth when it is dramatically presented…well, this origin seemed the most plausible.
I would love to have a ‘Bee Party’ – oh the fun and possibilities.
My friend Jennifer of Celebrating Everyday Life created a ‘Queen Bee Luncheon’ that was sooo very cute.
Have you ever told someone, “You’re the bee’s knees!”
Probably not.
I think YOU are the bee’s knees!! I do.
Anyone who stops by to read this blog fits that description perfectly. You are the best!!!
Thanks for indulging me and my bit of bee silliness today.
Maybe you are smiling now, just like me.
Now go and have An Extraordinary Day!

Love this round up and am totally blushing and completely honored to be included!!!! I’m gonna “buzz” over to Pinterest to explore the rest of your ‘bee’ board!! 🙂 ~Hugs, Jennifer
Oh my goodness….your ‘bee scape’ is the best! I think it remains one of my very favorites of all you have done.
Blessings sent your way!
I am crazy about all things bees! Have been for decades, long before it became the in thing. My girlfriend actually painted her small powder room black and stamped gold metallic bees all over to mimic wallpaper. It was so dramatic and gorgeous.
Oh Suzi! I would LOVE that powder room!! 🙂
Wishing you An Extraordinary Day!
Well, I think you and your blog are ‘the bee’s knees’! And many thanks for providing the origin! Interesting, isn’t it?
Awww…Dona…thanks for your word hug. 🙂
I was surprised by the origin too.
Hope your weekend is extraordinary!
Enjoyed your post very much. I too like to have bees keep me company in the garden!
Haha! I’m so glad I’m not alone on that one! 🙂
Hope your weekend is extraordinary!
Very cute and whimsical post!
I love bees and hope to have a beehive or two one day since I adore honey. I go through raw honey like nobodies business so I might as well get me some bees so I can feed my addiction, lol!
Awww…thanks! 🙂
Keeping bees really fascinates me too. Eating all that raw honey must keep you really healthy!
Blessings!
how did I miss what the bees knees means–I scrolled to the botom–one place looked like you were going to tell us but I did not see it! ummm!
hugs

I’m so sorry Glenda… Whenever you see text in red…click there and it will take you to another link. In this case, if you had clicked it would have taken you here: http://www.future-perfect.co.uk/grammartips/grammar-tip-bees-knees.asp Go there for the explanation. I make the mistake of assuming that everyone knows how text links work. But, now you do too. 😉
Blessings my friend. 🙂
I’ll have you know I think YOU’RE the bee’s knees. AND, according to he-who-asked-zackly-WHAT-was-in-that-tupperware-container…..*I* am the bee’s knees. LOL. I’m also “she who must be obeyed” and ” ‘er indoors ” and a whole list of things depending on the time of day and which phase of the moon we’re in!
Oh but I WANT the bee boots!! And I adore the vintage page with the rhyme. Not so much a personal fan of bees with my history of encounters with the buzzy bees I’ve learned to respect them and joyfully greet them when we come into shared space. Much better plan than going a bit ballistic and swatting at them …LOL…
I enjoyed this immensely, thank you.
I think your blog is the bee’s knees! Someone once told me I was the bee’s knees, but now I can’t recall who ;o) I even had to look it up when they told me I was! I was hoping it was something good. LOL
I have towels with embroidered bees, and love anything with a bee on it.
Awwww…Debbie…you just put the biggest smile on my face. 😀 What a nice thing to say!
Haha! Oh yes…this funny statement could make a lot of people wonder. Really knees anywhere aren’t really all that pretty are they?
Oooo…bees on your towels. I swoon.
Blessings!
I recently became a bee fan! I love all things bee themed and even threw a bee themed bridal shower for my precious daughter-in-law!!
It was so much fun!
How fun!! What a clever bridal shower idea!!!
Thanks for popping by Connie, and sharing what you did!!
Have an extraordinary day!
