Are you familiar with the artists who are known as painters of light?
They capture a moment in time when the light is perfectly golden, or that moment when the street lights first begin to appear just before twilight. That magical time of day.
After spending a few hours hiking in the shadows of the mountain it was time to head for home. On the drive we rounded a curve, and as we did everything became golden in the light. I asked my husband to stop the car and turn around so that I could attempt to capture it with my pocket camera.
I think you can get a sense of the moment. The beauty of the light was mesmerizing to me. I couldn’t get enough.
Have you ever had a similar experience?
God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in him.
1 John 1:5b
We love light. I wonder if the reason we are so attracted to the sun, sunrises, sunsets, and the golden light I tried to capture with my camera is because God is light? What do you think?

Really beautiful photos!
All praise goes to HIM….the creator of that beautiful light!
Thanks for stopping by Elizabeth!
Absolutely gorgeous picture of the fence, it had to be a magical moment. God is so good (His love endures forever!).
Mary
Oh Mary…I was beside myself it was so wonderful. Yes. God is good!!!
Thank you for enjoying the moment with me and for leaving your sweet words. [hugs]
Oh wow……amazing captures with the light on the fence and the shadows of the trees intermingled. Bless his heart for stopping the car! Wonderfully spied and beautifully captured! And yes, it’s been a busy week here for you–but that’s a very nice thing, to have good company along the way!
Blessings to you and yours–and yes, I’m still praying!
Mel…I am blessed. I know he gets frustrated with my photo-taking. After all…he has to stand around and wait…how boring is that. But…truly he has unimaginable patience for me most of the time and encourages me to keep ‘snapping.’
I am sooo very grateful for your prayers…..though we haven’t reached our ‘destination’ yet…we certainly have been buoyed. [hugs]
Love your shots and your blog! So glad to have found you!
How nice of you to say that Sarah. Thank you! 🙂
May your new week be Extraordinary!
I’m in love, I’m captivated by that twisted fence, bathed in light, set beside the winding road. What a rest-filled glimpse at the beginning of thie Sabbath day!
Oh Linda, I am elated that you enjoyed that beautiful moment with me, even if it was only a snapshot. Though we can’t look at His face…we see reflections of His glory everywhere…and this one was brilliant.
May your new week be overflowing with Joy!
So beautiful! That golden hour of light has called to me many times…simple things suddenly glow with beauty and it just stops us in our tracks.
Thank you Marty!
I was just thinking that it is just a small reflection of His glory…and just that overwhelms us with joy.
Oh yes! No mountains here, but there are a few small hills and I love to drink it that light reflected across a neighbor’s pond. This has been such a gloomy winter for us but today is bright, I’ll be on the lookout this evening.
I love all the curvy lines you captured, too. They draw me right into the tree light!
I’m so glad you are enjoying the ‘moment’ along with me, Elaine.
Beautiful golden light reflected on your neighbor’s pond should be spectacular! I hope you hare blessed with a ‘show’ too!
Blessings!!
LOVE , love this verse … and twilight. Best time of day for photos and eyes of the soul.
I shall investigate the web site! And hand over the recipe to he-who-does-it-all. LOL. Ohhhh what a deal I have, eh! 😉
Heehee! You sure do!!! Let me know how you like it!
Diane,
Thanks for sharing both your captivating photos…and…your inspired thoughts of our God of Light. I remembered the passage in Revelation 4:3 where it describes a rainbow around the throne of God. We know that rainbows cannot exist unless there is sunlight. However in heaven there is no need of sunlight for in Rev. 21 & 22 we are told that the city had no need of the sun or moon for the Lamb in its light. I get so excited thinking about all that glory eminating from the Giver of Light Himself! Thank you sparking my imagination’s trip to a holy place today.
And thank YOU, Carolyn for taking me on your journey with you. 🙂
May your day be overflowing with HIS joy!
It’s so hard ti imagine that He is so much more beautiful than any of the wonderful light He created for us! Lovely light photos.
He is. 🙂 And we are so blessed to be able to enjoy this gorgeous light, too.
Thank you Betty!
Diane,
Yes I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes moments like that just take your breath away or bring tears to your eyes and you wonder why everyone can’t see or feel it. The miracle God has created all around us, in big things and then in those little tender mercies. Thank you for sharing this at Memories by the Mile. I absolutely love your pictures.
xoxo

Thank YOU, Wanda!!
Sometimes I think we see it because we choose to. Kind of like training our eyes to spot hawks as we travel the highways.
Hope your day is Extraordinary!
Love the lighting that you have captured on this fence. Don’t you love when you have your camera with you to catch something this lovely! Makes it even more lovely when you think that HE is our light, and lights out paths with light just this golden and beautiful
Yes! Yes! Yes!!
Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet thought, Jeanne!!
I never thought about it that way…loving light because God is light, but it makes perfect sense to me! Beautiful images, and yes, I have that experience all the time. It is awe inspiring.
Glory to Him!!
Thanks for stopping by Tracey!
May your day be filled with moments of awe!
Your pictures are beautiful and you certainly captured that moment with the light perfectly. I am going to take a photography class this Sat. and they are going to teach us about light. I am so excited.
I’m a novice photographer…but I am a ‘chaser’ of the light in my photography. It literally makes my heart sing to be able to capture those lovely moments.
P.S. When digital photography took over, I couldn’t afford a new ‘real’ camera. All my photos are taken with a pocket Nikon. Enjoy your class, Lane…sounds like fun!
Looks like a beautiful peaceful day
It was the perfect ending to the day for sure! 🙂
Hope your day is Extraordinary!

Thank you Tanya! It’s the most magnificent time of day. The beauty also lies in that we don’t see it every day, either.

Beautiful photos! I live in Oklahoma and we have some beautiful light/sunsets. I love it when I’m outside with my camera in my hand and get a chance to try to capture it.
And do you notice, Renee, that you as hard as you try, you can’t really capture it?
