He is risen!

He is risen!! :: Cherry Blossoms :: Easter Verse :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

He is risen indeed!

This greeting is exchanged by Christians all over the world on Easter Sunday.

And with good reason.

Jesus had predicted his torturous death and resurrection to his disciples.  Read about it here.

Certainly it was unbelievable to them at that time.  And then, what a turn of events.

In one week, Jesus went from being heralded as a king, the Messiah who would save the people from their unfair rulers and bring about a just kingdom on earth….to an innocent man, tried, convicted, and crucified.  Oh the grief.  The disciples could not comprehend how this was all happening.

On Sunday following Jesus’ death, a few women went to his tomb.  There they were greeted by an angel of the Lord telling them that Jesus had come back to life just as he said he would.

The angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. He isn’t here! God has raised him to life, just as Jesus said he would. Come, see the place where his body was lying.   Matthew 28:5-6 CEV

Those early followers of Christ had come to realize that every single thing Jesus said was true.

True.  He really was who he said he was.  Jesus…Son of man, Son of God, the Messiah!

And so as followers of Christ we exchange this simple but profound greeting on Easter.

He is risen!  He is risen indeed!

Joy Day! :: Giving Thanks :: Easter ::  Apple Blossoms :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

My heart is full of gratitude on this Resurrection Sunday.

Join me in counting just seven things to give thanks for…
the good and not so good…from the past week.

I’ll start…

Today I give thanks for:

  1. being able to participate in the baptism of a teen friend.
  2. sweet fellowship and good food with dear distant friends.
  3. a snowy drive home with only wet roads.
  4. quiet on the job search front.
  5. eight meals from one chicken.
  6. a dear friend listening to the whisper of God.
  7. waking up to clear blue skies and sunshine.

We have so very much to be grateful for.
Please scroll down to ‘share your thoughts’ and tap in your ‘seven.’  What a great way to celebrate the victory of Jesus’ resurrection.

As an Easter gift to you, earlier this week I created a Resurrection Printable to download and print.  It’s available here.

Thank you for stopping by today. I appreciate you and your sweet comments make my day.

May you be overwhelmed with the amazing gift of Jesus’ resurrection.

He is risen!

    Eight?! Man, you’re a creative soul. I’m now curious — I might get four! Well, unless you count broth making.

    Lovely photos–we’re not even close to flowering anything at this point. But it’ll come. (yeahyeah..LOL…..eventually, right?)

    Joy Day! (egads…..LATE again!)

    * colouring eggs….but not of the ‘blown’ type.
    * watching the wee thing scramble around snowpiles looking for the hidden eggs
    * colourful birthday cake!
    * driving my car….ohmygosh that’s so wonderful!
    * hearing “okay…I booked the flight” 🙂
    * doctors that return calls!
    * the 10 minute sales clerk (man was she FAST to make a sale! LOL)

    • Diane says

      Okay…I’m not so creative really…I just buy the big chicken…5 lbs or so. Here’s how the meals work out for two of us:
      1. Roast chicken dinner. 2. chicken salad lunch 3. chicken tacos 4. Broth with cheese and cracker 5. 6. 7. 8. Chicken rice gumbo and veggies soup. Yum! Yes..the broth-making does count because with that and the chicken after the first 3 meals we enjoy a huge pot of soup. I think you were on to me.
      Love your ‘seven’! God is soooo good. Don’t you feel free with your wheels now? And I love the sound of “booked the flight”!!!
      May your joy-cup overflow today, Mel!!
