Apple picking.

It’s easy.  It’s fun.

Everyone can do it!   Even me!

Apple Picking :: The Week at a Glance 9/21 :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Pick as many apples as you like.

Make applesauce…apple crisp…apple pie.

Or best of all…eat an apple from your hand.

When it comes to #InspiredFallNesting…apples say, “Fall!”

Their aroma, their flavor, their crispness.  Mmmmm….

What’s your favorite apple?

What’s your favorite apple food?

It was another Extraordinary Week on the blog!

We wrapped up our week with a final look at the beach…or at least a final beach memory.   On Joy Day! I shared a story of my awful, rotten, no-good day and a meditation on Psalm 40:5 to prevent another occurrence of such a day.  Then we kicked off our new #InspiredFallNesting series: Fall….It’s Extraordinary!   To celebrate, I created a free 8×10 printable for you to put in a frame.  And because this is a celebration of Fall Nesting…we’re having a giveaway that is perfect for all you “nesters.”  We then visited a tablescape you undoubtedly never saw when it first was published.   The free printable….well I printed one off for myself, framed it, and created a Fall vignette with it.  And finally a refreshing recipe wrapped up the week.  A good week.

On a Personal Note

We are so blessed to be where we are in this “inbetween” time.  Yet…it isn’t easy.  I feel sort of wobbly…not sure quite what to do with myself creatively.  But…I really am not complaining.  For me….just getting this Fall Nesting series on the blog was a personal success.

For those of you who pray….there is a “first” phone interview on Monday for my husband.  Thanks for interceding for us.  We’ve been enjoying some stunning sunrises and sunsets here in Michigan…right from the house.  It’s a small thing…but it feels like a huge hug from God.

I can’t believe that we’ve had such gorgeous weather….and that I’m sitting here with the window open, in the evening, on the third weekend of September.  Pretty amazing!

So tell me…what good things have made your week?

Have you gone, or will you go, apple picking?

If you haven’t entered the giveaway, yet….you’ll want to do so here!

Wishing you an Extraordinary weekend!

Diane

Yummy! Those are wonderful in a pie.
My favorite apple is a Gala, LuAnn.
      Hope your weekend is amazing!!

  2. Kathy says

I’m eating a apple right now.

    • Diane says

I read somewhere that an apple is one of the best things for our stomach. A good reason to eat lots of them. Enjoy!!!

  3. Gail says

God certainly blesses us with such a delicious variety of apples

Yes, I will continue to pray for your husband’s employment situation

    • Diane says

And there’s nothing better than a pie baked with many varieties. 🙂
I love how God is so creative. His creation continuously amazes me.
Thank you so much for your prayers, Gail. It means so much.
      [hugs]

*crossing fingers and toes on that first interview*

Personally, I don’t know how you wouldn’t be a bit ‘wobbly’ given all the change you’ve had to contend with just in the past 60 days (let alone the months before that!). Huge stuff–though I’m sure you know that. Not being certain of what that creative self is doing/going next–Frankly, I think mine went on a hiatus when I had the surgery. LOL I’m the one who got the place mat out, found a basket…….and called it good to go, remember? 😉
I get it. Any wee step is a step–and it all counts, dearheart.

I like my apples really crisp. And I like apple anything! We’ve got a few orchards around us–I’m looking forward to visiting even if I can’t get out of the Jeep. It’s such a pretty thing, apples turned on the tree.
Oh man……now we NEED to go…….there’s nothing like a crisp straight from the oven with a bit of cream/ice cream on it. 🙂

    • Diane says

Thanks for those encouraging words, Mel. 🙂 Maybe sometimes we expect a bit too much from ourselves. Well…me at least. 😉
You know there’s so much more to surgery than the cutting and repair and stitching. It really does make the whole body wonky. You have a LOT to heal from. Isn’t it good to know that God is our healer and he will strengthen and renew and restore you. I’m praying that for sure. 😉
I went for a walk the other day in the neighborhood and I was surprised to see several homes with gorgeous trees laden with apples…what a pretty sight.
And you’re right…nothing better than crisp straight from the oven with fresh whipped cream. I made one yesterday…with pears because we had some of those too…and some craisins….and a few pecans for good measure. If your sweet husband will make it for you…tell him to sprinkle in a bit of Allspice. It’s my secret ingredient and Mmmmmm….so good.
Have fun at the orchard…even from the Jeep!!!

  5. Favorite apple is sugar crisp, which are now available. Last night, we had a simple dessert of fresh apple slices with caramel dip. Yummy! Like apples just about any way you can make them: bread, pie, crisp, baked, salads, cakes, etc.

Haven’t been working on making anything yet. Went to a great estate sale yesterday and got some new treasures. Need to hit the basement and look for my Fall decor.

    Smiles and Hugs

    • Diane says

I’m not familiar with the ‘sugar crisp’ apple, Sue. I’ll have to see if I can find any. 🙂 Fresh apple slices and caramel dip was a favorite a few years ago…I seriously had forgotten. By chance do you make your own caramel dip?
How fun to have attended a big estate sale!! And then to come home with treasures too! Yay!!!!
      Blessings, my friend!

  6. Gwen says

Your phrase reminded me of the Johnny Appleseed cartoon we would show in class!!! I loved my Moms apple pie. But I don’t bake pie anymore!! I used to make apple kuchen a recipe from a friend. I’ve forgotten!!! But now I’m craving homemade apple pie!!! I used to have my own apple tree and my Dad grafted many varieties into the tree! I loved our neighbor’s country apple orchard. They were raising Fujii but needed Gala for pollination. Their Gala were sooo big and sweet and wonderful!!! We’d my Dad and I would meet our friend out there and the kids, Dad and I would drive along, riding in the wagon behind the tractor , picking apples! This week I got to have good conversations with Mom and a dear friend. Plus today my niece marries!!!! Exciting week.
I believe ill take a nap.

    • Diane says

Johnny Appleseed! Wow! Am I in good company! [wink]
I bet your were an amazing teacher Gwen. 🙂
Apple kuchen….I’ll have to look it up. I’m intrigued.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful story of apples, growing up. What terrific memories were created. It truly sounds perfect!
What a wonderful week you have been blessed with.
      Rejoicing with you!!
      [hugs]

  7. Judy says

How funny, Diane. I sat down to read your blog with a gala apple and caramel dip in my hand. And then I saw the subject. 🙂 I’ll be praying for Tim.
    Love you,
    Judy

    • Diane says

Haha!! That is funny, Judy!!! 🙂
Thank you so much for your prayers….
      Love you too!!
