Flowers…

Everywhere I go, there are little green stems with swollen heads.  Daffodils waiting to soak in the sunshine and warmer temperatures.   Wistfully wanting to slip out of their green cloaks and turn their little cheerful faces to the sun.  I feel just like them.  Basking in the sun sounds absolutely wonderful today.  No doubt in a few short months we all will be seeking a reprieve from the sun and its heat.  Perspective.

As I was dreaming of flowers and warm weather, I ‘flipped’ through my photos and came across this one I took at Letchworth State Park  some time ago.  This quote seemed to marry perfectly with the sunny flowers on the gray day by the waterfall.

Flowers are beacons Quote :: The Week at a Glance :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Flower are those little colorful beacons of the sun
from which we get sunshine when dark,
somber skies blanket our thoughts.

Here are this week’s posts…
  1. He is Risen :: Joy Day!
  2. Sunroom Metamorphosis :: Spring Decor
  3. Create Your Own Spring-Flowering Branches :: A Book Page Flower Tutorial

It’s been an another Extraordinary week on the blog.

Our extraordinary week began with  celebrating Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday!  On Saturday I hinted that I just might make a few changes to my sun room…and I made good with it calling it a metamorphosis.  (I even learned how to spell the word! Haha!)  The next day I came back with a tutorial for the flowering branches.  What can’t you make with book pages?  I have a few more ideas under my thinking cap…you just wait and see!  This post has been quite popular in blogland.  I am humbled and blessed.

So how was my personal week? We got up really early and attended our little town’s outdoor Easter Sunrise service.  It was cold!  But…it didn’t rain until about and hour later.  The weather seems to be the topic of every conversation and how could we not notice the snow and cold?  I almost did the happy dance when the sun came out late in the week.  And today it warmed up enough to open the windows of my house.  Oh my!  Nothing like a clean house that smells springy fresh.   And now, I am awaiting friends driving in from Virginia for an overnight stop on their way to Michigan.  It’s been several years since we’ve gotten together.  I’m more than slightly excited.  Can you see my big grin!

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you.  Truly, I am blessed when you stop by, leave your thoughtful remarks, and even share and pin the posts you like.   Thank you.   Hugs to each of you who make this feel like a chat and not me just tapping words into space.

  1. I’ve enjoyed your posts and creativity, Diane. I was so tempted to run out and buy a forsythia wreath!
And I was delighted to be reminded of Letchworth St Park. It has been many years since we visited in that part of New York. I love to be reminded of lovely places we have been privileged to visit; you’ve added some big smiles to my morning!
I enjoyed today’s quote too. I’m still getting warm after being out hunting the tiniest blossoms – desperate for some warm spring beauty! I can’t wait to see what next week brings from you!

Oh Elaine…isn’t there something about that yellow that just makes your heart sing?!! Letchworth SP is on of my favorite places to go. Now…we live a fair distance so I’ll be enjoying it through my old photos. You never know…another one just might appear sometime this spring. 😉 I’ve noticed the bud getting fatter…but I’m thinking that after the 60+ degrees forecast for the week along with rain we will FINALLY be seeing spring! YAY! Thank you for your kind encouraging words, Elaine. Hope your weekend is Extraordinary!!

  2. I love your photo and quote! Thanks so much for your kind comment on my mantel changes.

      Awww…thank you so much Elizabeth!!
Wishing you a day of JOY!

Well, of course the flowering tree branch is making the rounds–it’s a brilliant idea (that I’m yet to execute–but I WILL get there!). Goodness, a full and joyous week for you! What an awesome thing to be able to open the windows and let spring IN. I eagerly await the same privilege–though I did get the chair drug outside for me to SIT….and pretend I was playing in the dirt (the closest potted bush I could reach…LOL). Yeah for you! Does a soul good to see and feel and smell life’s awakenings. (I wouldn’t mind if you pushed a bit of that 60 degree weather my way…..:-/ )
Oh, and there’s company for you and the hubby–how wonderful for that. Reconnecting and sharing space with old friends is a blessing in and of itself….always good timing, especially good timing for showing off the paper blossomed branch! 😉

You just keep creating and finding the good that’s in every circumstance. Even photos that got tucked away breathe new life when we look at them from another perspective. (awesome photo, btw–and equally awesome quote!)
I–will enjoy the patio today….and hope that pile of ice finally had its metamorphosis! HA! (had to slip the word in somewhere! LOL)
*hugs, prayers and lots of springtime warmth to you and yours!*

Do you think if I blow really hard you’ll get a a bit of our finally warmer temps? Mel, we’ve got thunderstorms coming this afternoon…so I’ve got to get my shoes on and get out there! Even a thunderstorm sounds wonderful these days. Yes? Funny thought…a gal from AU left a comment today mentioning that I could send her some coolness as they’ve had such a long hot summer. I think we all have had the exact opposite…top over. 😉
As for digging in the dirt. Generally I’ve already been doing that by now. It’s still pretty early this year….good for you…pretending isn’t bad either. I hope the sun shines brightly on you while you enjoy being outdoors today. 😉
Thanks for your encouraging words. I do look forward to “having you over” for your coffee and my cocoa as time permits. Blessings and joy to you my friend! [hugs]

  4. So many lovely flowers, Diane! You did a great job with that photo. Thanks for sharing your joy and inspiration at A New Creation party. Always a pleasure to see what you’ve been up to and what’s on your mind, my friend!

That photo is from a very favorite spot of mine. At least once a year we would travel to that park when we lived in NY. It has several waterfalls and is truly a magnificent place.
You are so kind, Jessica. Thank you!

  5. Such a beautiful post. I’m so excited that spring flowers are finally growing.

    • Diane says

We’ve a few crocus….looking forward to many more!
      Thanks Danielle!!

I love Letchworth and try to get out there every fall
when the leaves change. Looks like now I have
    to make a spring visit.

    • Diane says

We love Letchworth in the spring! You’ll notice a difference in the waterfalls too. You must make a visit.

  7. I love the photo of the waterfall! I grew up near Letchworth SP and we would go there often for picnics 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing this on The Creative HomeAcre Hop! I hope to see you again tomorrow. 🙂
