Is there something going on in your life that you’re praying about and seeking God’s help to see you through?

Maybe you’re like me.

When I’m facing something big… I pray like crazy… I ask my close friends to pray like crazy… and when things don’t seem to be moving along… I enlist others to pray… and possibly even seek advice.

You know what my problem is?

I lack faith.

Do you lack FAITH A devotional meditation.

Recently I read a story about an elderly woman’s exchange with a young man.  He asked her what he should do to get God’s help with his need.

Her reply might surprise you.

She told the young man, “You have to believe He’s done it, and it’s done.”

Have you ever noticed…. we get stuck on the ask.

We ask God to do something for us.  (And we should ask as He LOVES to have us come to Him for help.)  And because nothing immediately changes… we lose faith and we ask again.

We might even try to help God work on our behalf.  If you’re a “fixer” you know exactly what that pitfall is all about.  When God doesn’t act swiftly enough for us… we look for ways to help him.  Or maybe even attempt to make things happen on our own.

Another scenario is to go to someone else for advice.

Or get your friends to pray with you… hoping that more prayers will push God to move on your behalf.

It might even be followed up by some hand wringing, sleepless nights, and constant thinking about the problem.

If you lack faith... these steps will help you grow.

Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.

Psalm 37:5

Whatever it is… give it to God.  Every. single. thing.

Make it HIS problem… not yours.

And then….

Trust Him.

No going fishing for your troubles again.

No hand wringing or fretting.

Because.

He WILL help you.

Notice… the psalmist who wrote this verse says will.  Not might. Or could. Or possibly.

It says God WILL help you.

If all God’s promises are true in the Bible… than why do you doubt God?

I know.

Because we don’t see the answer we’re looking for... immediately.

Oh my! I am so guilty of that.

And… that is so wrong.

God has made a great many promises. They are all “Yes” because of what Christ has done. So through Christ we say “Amen.” We want God to receive glory.

2 Corinthians 1:20

All God’s promises are true.  Not some.  All.

When we entertain doubt… when we hold back on trusting God… when we attempt to move His hand on our behalf… we sin.

There is no doubt that all our little antics to persuade God to do exactly what we want, when we want, grieve God’s heart.

He wants us to let go and trust Him because He knows what’s best for us.

Do you lack Faith? This is a great faith quote by Matthew Henry to remember. Click here for a devotional mediation to help you through those days when... no matter how hard you try... things just don't seem to be going your way.

Recently I read this quote from the great Bible commentator, Matthew Henry…

Faith adds its “Amen” to God’s “Yes” and then takes its hands off, leaving God to finish His work.

Can you do that?

Maybe the better question is, WILL you do that?

Have you ever thought that maybe God’s slowness, might be due to your lack of faith?

Maybe He wants you to exercise your faith muscles.

Trusting God… exercising faith… can be very difficult.

We can’t see, or touch, or feel faith… let alone God.

But, it is an action we can take… it’s something we must do.

Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Hebrews 11:1

What to do when you lack faith. The last ice on Lake Michigan

In the Book of Hebrews, numerous individuals are identified for their faith.  We call them heroes. They are the people who put their complete confidence in God.  They had complete assurance that God was who He said He was, and could absolutely be trusted to work and fight for them.  Their faith is the banner that waves high to encourage us to keep walking in faith… trusting that God will keep all His promises… and that He really will act on our behalf and for His glory.

What is it that’s troubling you?

Did you pray about it?

Then there’s only one thing to do….

“You have to believe He’s done it, and it’s done.”

Faith is a topic I keep coming back to.  It seems that as we live and struggle and grow and change, our level of faith changes.  In this post I focused on what faith is…  And here I pondered how to walk in faith during tough times.

O sister, you hit me with an arrow of truth, when you wrote” when we attempt to move His hand on our behalf”. Better about that Than I was, but not where I believe God wants me to be. But I’ve learned from the foolishness of my control needs.

    • I wrote that? You know Gail… at that moment I realized that was divine inspiration. I can’t tell you now often I go back and read these “JoyDay!” posts and am amazed that I wrote the post. It’s truly a God thing. I am so grateful that He is willing to use me and for the teaching I, too, receive as I listen and tap away.
      Thanks for being a part of our community and sharing your heart, too. {{hugs}}
