Coastal Table Decor Ideas for a Beachy Brunch - AnExtraordinaryDay.net

There’s nothing like a day at the beach.

Living at least five hours from the beach, I decided to bring the beach to the mountains of Pennsylvania.

At least to my dining area.

Will you  join me for a beachy brunch?

Beachy Themed Coastal Decorate Table Decor Ideas

The table is simply set with my Longaberger dinnerware and crystal goblets, and my vintage silverplate that we use everyday.

Tablescaping with a coastal theme for brunch

We’re having the yummiest blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup.

Creamers sitting on saucers are perfect for serving the syrup.  And cute too.

An old vintage low bowl with a sea green interior is filled with candles, seashells, and beach glass.

Beachy Brunch Tablescape

A strip of burlap, cut from an old coffee bean bag turned table runner, is suggestive of sandy beaches.

The sideboard against the wall is festooned with a coastal vignette that includes the giant clam shell that had two cosmetic makeovers, and my first attempt at painting the sea.

I’m smitten with the vintage blue Ball jars which are filled with fresh-picked Queen Anne’s Lace.  One of my favorite summer flowers and just the touch for that beachy feel.

At my request, earlier this summer, my kind husband created the netting around the jars that remind us of the old-fashioned glass floats.

And to complete the look, I found some striped napkins in my stash that remind me of a summer beach towel and give a punch of color to an otherwise mostly monochromatic table setting.

Ideas for creating a beachy coastal themed table setting.

We had a lovely, last minute brunch with special friends.  My husband made blueberry pancakes, one friend brought a wonderful egg casserole, and another an amazing fresh fruit salad.  Simple and delicious.  Great conversation.

Moments before our guests arrived, I realized I had forgotten the water goblets, so I quickly set them on the table and then grabbed the camera to snap most of these photos as our friends were walking to the door.  Whew!

Then as I was editing these photos I thought I could have added a colorful beach towel to the table decor to give our beachy brunch a little color kick.  Next time.  Maybe.  I also noticed I had forgotten to add more seashells to the burlap runner.  I’m guessing you didn’t miss them, so we’ll decide that it all came together perfectly for a last minute Saturday brunch.

I hope my beachy brunch inspired a few coastal decor ideas for your fun table setting. Everything I used, came from my stash.  Take a look in your cabinets and cupboards… I bet you’ll be surprised how easy it is to set your own beachy brunch tablescape.

Have you ever had a beachy brunch far from the crash of the waves?

What is your favorite table setting theme for summertime?

Yes, only in my dreams am I enjoying the beach ~ My house looks like a warehouse, and the garage is slowly filling to capacity ~ I can’t imagine hosting anything at this point 🙂 It all looks so charming and I’m sure your guests had a great time. We always think of what we missed or what else we wanted to do, but in the end, it turns out just fine ~ Judi

I just want to give you a big hug, Judi. I sense your discomfort. My house is a huge mess right now with boxes stacked high and packing material everywhere. Ugh! What a difference in a few days. Dreams are good…we need them don’t we. I know you’re dreaming of the beach…I hope that the details come together for you soon.
      Blessings sent your way…
      ~Diane

Love the Queen Anne’s Lace in ball jars; it is one of favorites. Glad you got to enjoy some good conversation at a beautiful table with warm friends.

    • Diane says

Thanks Linda! It was just what I needed to help me get the packing underway.
Hope your week has been extraordinary! 🙂

  3. I’d say your hand at painting went pretty dog-gone well! I like it 😉 and I spy Longaberger dinnerware. Love that pattern, next favorite to my Pfaltzgraff Folk Art… Nice netting on that Ball jar 😉

    • Diane says

Awww….thanks JoAnn….you are so sweet to say all those nice things. 🙂 You should see my face. 😀
It’s almost here…hope your weekend is extraordinary!

  4. Charming! I love using my blue ball jars for wild flowers too and I love Queen Ann’s lace, it’s such a delicate flower.

Are you moving? Was your rental house sold? Where are you going? Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers.

    Love, Sue

    • Diane says

Thank you sooo much Susan! There’s something special about the old blue jars and wildflowers. They always make my heart sing. 🙂
      I’ll e-mail you…

It’s perfect as is!! Just the right splash of colour if you ask me, which you didn’t…LOL. I still think it’s perfect. And just for the record I’ve magnified each photo to try to steal the deal your hubby did cuz the jars are just too cool dressed up with the twine. Well done!! AND he made the pancakes….and thinks you oughta run to the beach this weekend. 🙂 I like how he thinks!!
I also know there needs to be a voice of reason that kicks in…..on Monday… :-/
The uncertainty would eat me up….and I admit I start to let it sometimes. I keep thanking G-d for taking such very good care of you..and for gracing me with your presence in my life…. NOW would be good, yaknow?

(I mighta mentioned I’m notsogood in the patience department!)

    • Diane says

Haha!! No I didn’t. 🙂 But….I do appreciate unsolicited opinions. 😉 They make life much richer!!
I asked him if he would knot the netting for me. I’m not so good with knots. You know the saying about the rabbit goes round the tree…etc., in knot tying? I get the saying goofed up, let alone make a proper knot. It’s been that way forever. We used to have summer recreation at my elementary school. Everyone made lanyards….and wore them. I attempted to…I really tried….but all I had was a mess. 🙂
Wouldn’t it have been fun if we could really have gone to the beach? 🙂
Oh my friend…thank you for caring and praying and encouraging. I can’t tell you how much I am grateful for on these challenging days. Big hugs in return, Mel!

I got some inspiration for when I do feel better. Simple is better. I liked the elegance of how the flowers made a canning jar look fancy when coupled with a pretty tablecloth and goblets! I loved the knotted twine too to resemble those beach floats. (I forget the name).
Ill hide this away in my mind as a style I can duplicate on my own level too. Fun!!

    • Diane says

God is so good like that. 🙂 I love how he can use a little something I’ve had fun doing to inspire you. Yay!! When you get to putting your table together Gwen, you’ll have so much fun. It was a big spirit lifter for me. 🙂
      Hope your day is Extraordinary!!

I love your sweet white dishes with the simple blue design.

I live on the beach and my table doesn’t look half as beachy as yours!

    • Diane says

Carol, you are so kind. Thank you for your sweet words. You put the biggest smile on my face.
      [hugs] ~Diane

  8. Josh says

I really dig the beach style! Although much different than most of the styles in my house… I can appreciate it. Nicely done!

    • Diane says

      Thanks Josh!
I think the beauty is being able to appreciate different styles.
Maybe that’s why people like “Martha” have several houses…so they can enjoy different styles.

Makes me feel like I’m down at Galveston for a long weekend!! We always have such a delightful time time. Your tablescapes are so airy and beachy!! love them and puts me right in the mood!!!

    • Diane says

Awww… I think I need to visit Galveston… and you do too!!
Thanks for the kind words about my tablescapes. I generally am not a fan of clutter… so I guess that gives them that lighter look.
You are a wonderful encourager, my friend!
      [hugs]
