The Goodness of God ~ Ann Voskamp Quote :: AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Yesterday, Ann Voskamp’s blog post hit my inbox.

As I was reading through the post I came across these words…

When you’re overwhelmed with the goodness of God to you
— you overflow with the goodness of God to others.
Ann Voskamp

I had to ask myself this question…
Are you overwhelmed with the goodness of God

Maybe you’d like to join me in contemplating this question and Ann’s statement.

Thank you for stopping by today.
I appreciate you and your sweet comments make my day.

Overwhelmed…

Diane

  3. Suzi says

I love that use of overwhelmed! We usually use the word to express to much work, stress and other unwelcomed emotions. From now on I am only going to answer the question “how are you” by saying I am overwhelmed…with the goodness of God! Trying to rid myself of stinkin’ thinkin’. I am praying about this second step you are taking knowing that God only gives enough light for the step you are on. Prayers for His placement for you not to tarry any longer.

    • Diane says

I love how you will say, “I am overwhelmed…with the goodness of God!” Love. Love. Love that!!!! Suzy…what a great response!!
Thanks for your prayers….we are anxious for our next “assignment.”

  4. Gwen says

It’s amazing you use that quote. I know I had that feeling the other day it overcame me. I don’t remember the rest–the details–but the main thing is to see God like today, I so loved doing yard work and my gardeners gracefully snip and cut wherever I ask. I prayed in English but then talked to them in their language that their hands are the hands of Jesus for me. I told them that I thank God every day for them when I look out on my yard. I ask Do you love Jesus? Is He in your heart? Their gentle eyes say Oh yes.and I begin to weep and they are kind. This is God providing for me. And I can pray with them a short prayer and I know the Holy Spirit and their bit of English helps them know what is said. This is being overwhelmed with what God is doing for me.
I’m also overwhelmed with Gods presence in a couples trip to Indiana. A state where my friend lives and another friend was from. So it feels right in my bones. We do not hope as those without Jesus as the center of our hope. I wrote that and a dog barked, a bird made a noise, a crow said caw, and a little bird gave a shrill. As if my entire backyard was shouting Alleluia!!! So you have prayers, faith, hope and belief–there goes that bird call I do not know just as I wrote belief–as if to say–Go. God is with you. He is in front of you. He is beside you. And He follows you. How loved.

I love the heartfelt care and concern you have for everyone to know Jesus, Gwen. And you ease of talking to each person about HIM. You truly have a ministry and a gift of evangelism. Thank you so for sharing this…it so blesses my heart.
Our hope is in Jesus….I’m so grateful that it’s not in my performance.
Gwen…we had good travels. The weather was not perfect, but we we actually traveled in a bubble of time as there was a snowstorm on either side of our trip. I’m so grateful that he orchestrated the timing here. Thank you soooo much for your prayers!!! [hugs]

  5. Mel says

    THY will be done. Amen
    (Nothing more.)
    (Nothing less.)
    (Nothing else.)

    Safe journey.
    None of that white stuff.
Leastwise not til you land, safely. 😉

    • Diane says

Mel….there was a storm prior to our trip and we came home to one that was paused, but going on now. Seriously….God orchestrated the timing and I am so grateful. We were driving in heavy rain for a short while this afternoon and my husband decided to stop somewhere we get out and could walk. After a half hour indoors walking, we went out to see the rain had stopped. We picked up a little drizzle at the end of the trip and drove through some of the very wet and sloppy slush of the storm we missed. But, driving around Indy was sunny yesterday and dry today….even though we woke up to a thunderstorm this morning and a 70 percent chance of rain. I feel blessed and protected.

  6. Debbi Saunders says

Continuing to pray for and with you that the Lord will make crystal clear to you and Tim his will for serving him. Also for traveling mercies.

    • Diane says

Thank you sweet friend….God heard your prayers….and I in turn was blessed. [hugs]

  7. His perfect will for you – adapted to personalize –
He makes you lie down in [fresh, tender] green pastures; He leads you beside still and restful waters, He refreshes and restores your life (your self); He leads you in the paths of righteousness [uprightness and right standing with Him – not for your earning it, but] for His name’s sake.” Psalm 23:2-3
This continues to be my prayer for you Diane

    • Diane says

That is the most wonderful prayer Elaine. So very wonderful. Thank you so much for praying it. I means to the world to me! [hugs]

  8. Sending good wishes for you and your hubby in Indy. I am overwhelmed and humbled by the goodness that God has blessed me with. Save travels!

  10. Linda says

Overwhelmed a lot. Remebering times of being overwhelmed when I was at the end of myself unable to do anything but lean into HIm.

    • Diane says

Ah….I know that place, Linda. It’s so good to know that we don’t have to maneuver this alone. He delights on having us lean completely on him.

May you week be filled with JOY!
