Great actions speak to all mankind - T. Roosevelt Quote - AnExtraordinaryDay.net

Great thoughts speak only to the thoughtful mind,
but great actions speak to all mankind.

Theodore Roosevelt

Have your heard the expression talk is cheap?

I think my dad used that expression when I was growing up.

When I look around my world…the people who are loving, serving, and caring for others at some personal sacrifice are the people who inspire me.  Great thoughts are good… but actions speak louder than words.

My heart overflows with gratitude today for the benefits I have received because of the sacrifice of a friend.  Several friends.

I’ve experienced love in the truest sense.

It goes beyond saying, “I care.”

It’s being Jesus with skin on.

This adventure, that we call life, takes us to places we’d never dream.

Some are amazing.  Beautiful. Fun. The heights of delight.

Some places we go, we never want to visit again. Ever.

Along the journey we get to be givers or receivers.

I’m learning the hard way that one is not better than the other.

One may just be more humbling than the other.

Just in case you’re thinking that being the recipient is the most humbling… think again.

When we put aside our wants, our desires, our needs for another… we choose to humble ourselves.

When you’ve been humbled by circumstance… it’s forced character building.

Character building by choice… that’s what changes the world.

Those are the great actions that speak to all mankind.

Believe me.  All eyes see.

And really… Actions speak louder than words.

The best part… there’s a ripple effect.

Have you ever tossed a pebble into a large pond?

Those initial ripples will slowly move across the entire pond.

Theodore Roosevelt said it well…

…great actions speak to all mankind.

Pay attention to that whisper…

Throw a pebble into the pond today.

Don’t wait for tomorrow.

My Nature Discovery…

After the days of never-ending rain,  I finally got to go for a walk.

There’s county park nearby and we had fun exploring.

We discovered mushrooms and colored leaves and moss and lichens and a tree frog.

Can you spy him in the first photo?

Notice how tiny he is….

He made his first perch on a little lichen.

And then he started exploring.   Doesn’t he seem dwarfed by the oak leaf?

I was delighted that he sat fairly still and I was able to get a few good photos.

You should have heard me on the walk home.   Almost dancing like a little girl with a happy heart.

Nature walks are one of my favorite things to do.

I hope you’ll enjoy coming along in the days ahead.

Ahem.  I sorta got a little carried away taking pictures.

Thanks for stopping by today.

I’m glad you had such a fun day. The pictures are so good. I really need a decent camera whenever finances allow.

This is such a sweet post, Diane. We have a toad that likes to visit our pool from time, and the kids have named him Hopkins. 🙂

I’m feeling pretty puffed up…I saw him before I knew he had a quest spot in your post. And what timing, late as it’s always seemingly is as of late….here you are posting about the joy of giving…..the humility attatched to it. Himself wonders why we open our home to some folks, especially when it seems to be a ‘not good’ experience some times. My answer comes in those quiet moments when I know it is as G-d would have me do. I’m just giving back what I can never repay
And every once in a while you have a ‘fairly decent’ experience and someone’s life is transformed…..as is ours…..

  9. Yes. But we also need words to support them.

  10. Such a lovely post. I think you’re right there is always a ripple effect, do one thing positive and more positivity will follow.

    Lovely photographs too.
