Are you ready for a DIY that's easy and perfect for spring?   I put together this easy spring dogwood wreath... in just thirty minutes for just three dollars... and you can make one too.   On Friday night my friend and I took a drive to the largest greenhouse I've ever seen.  On the way home, we passed countless dogwood trees just beginning to bloom in the woods lining both sides of the highway.  It was spectacular. Spring is here in full force and the dogwoods are blooming and the dogwood stems I purchased for just $3 each at Walmart were waiting in my studio closet anxious … [Read more...]

In case there was ever any doubt, I LOVE fresh evergreens at Christmas. Did you purchase an evergreen wreath or two for your home and now, the week of Christmas it's crunchy?  It happens.  I wonder how far in advance commercial wreaths are made.  Besides that, if you hang your wreath in a place where it receives the warm air currents and do not spray it regularly, it WILL dry out. One of my friends always buys a wreath on Black Friday to use on her coffee table.  It looks amazing, but come Christmas it's pretty dry. If that's you... you can make a fresh evergreen wreath for Christmas decorating … [Read more...]

I absolutely LOVE using natural elements in my Christmas decorations.  And the best part of using nature's gifts... they're usually free! That's a double win in my book.  Before the leaves even started to fall this year, I knew I wanted to create something beautiful for Christmas with the plethora of oak leaves from the nearby woods and gold spray paint. But, what would that be? I finally settled on making an oak leaf Christmas wreath.     Who knew the humble leaf from a stately oak could become so classy with just a few spritzes of gold spray paint? I had a pretty good … [Read more...]

Wouldn't you love to approach Christmas with a sense of peace and purpose and less craziness? In the midst of the festivities, busyness, and sensory overload, you really can discover peace and purpose this Christmas.     I've discovered that when I plan to focus on Christ's coming and Advent... the season leading up to Christmas where we intentionally remember what it was like for people thousands of years ago to anticipate the coming of Christ... my joy and delight in Christmas and God's GIFT to us gives me much peace and purpose in spite of all the craziness of the world … [Read more...]

Hello, friends!  Thanks for coming by! I know some of you are suffering from too much rain. Please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. Here in the mitten state, even though it did rain over the weekend, we haven't had nearly enough liquid precipitation.  Though I have to say, after a long gray winter the sunshine is so welcome.  It's great for garage sailing... I scored a few treasures that should be making an appearance on the blog... and today I transformed the lampshade of one of those great finds. I was in need of a new iron and God provided... not any iron... but top of the line Rowenta and … [Read more...]

There's something so inviting about a pretty wreath gracing a front door. We all want to have beautiful, warm, welcoming homes.  But getting there... can sometimes be a challenge.     Do you ever watch Fixer Upper or some other home show and think, "She makes that look so easy."  "Everything is so beautifully and artfully arranged." or "I wish I could do that." You know what?  You can! It just takes a little practice. The first time I arranged flowers, created a wreath, or plied my hand at some creative project... usually it was just okay. The great thing was... I … [Read more...]

Welcome to Project Inspire{d}! I am so glad you're here! Over the  weekend I went out of town for the day and enjoyed a delightful color tour on the way to my destination.  In my neck of the woods there are mostly yellows with some oranges and a few rare reds, so it was nice to get to see a little bit more fall color.   For those of you who don't have the pleasure of seeing the leaves change color I wish you could have come along with me for the ride. The wind is ferocious tonight... I hope all the colorful leaves don't get blown off the trees.  Today I almost got blown away as I went leaf gathering... … [Read more...]

What are your favorite spring flowers?     I confess that I'm a traditionalist. I love forsythia and tulips and daffodils and hyacinths and anemones and hellebores.   Yeah.  Pretty much everything.  [wink] Which pretty much explains why I created this spring tulip wreath with forsythia.     Although I made this wreath a while back, it's still perfectly in style today. All the details on how it all came together are here.  Just in case you want to try your hand at making a spring tulip wreath. And if you missed seeing my crisp white spring mantel...click … [Read more...]

I played with power tools this weekend. Just two.  But, one, in particular, got me totally excited. I may or may not have posted something about it on Facebook.     One tool was a power miter saw.  That wasn't a big deal.  I used to own one until I allowed some other people to use it and it came back to me in pieces.  That's a story for another day.  Maybe. I've always wanted to use a nail gun.  I can't tell you how fun it was.  It made quick work of assembling the birch branches.  But, you can make a wreath like this without power tools. So just for fun, I put together a simple … [Read more...]

Grapevine wreaths can be so very easy to decorate with for most holidays. You might remember my Easter Egg Wreath or my Natural Fall Wreath.  Both were quick and simple to make. This Grapevine and Winterberry Noel Wreath was also easy to put together.     Early this fall I created a few grapevine wreaths from those growing up in the trees nearby.   They're easy to make and they're free.  Yay!     I've been having lots of fun decorating with Winterberry or Michigan Holly which grows in wetlands.  I love their vivid red color.  They really add a colorful pop to all the … [Read more...]

This year, I wanted to be really intentional about observing Advent.  I even shared a post with ideas for Advent readings and candles, here. But, when it came to my own advent candle wreath, I had nothing.  Nada. It was something I wanted....but it is not necessary.  Plus, I don't exactly have money to be spending on something like this, and since I'm living "in between" with my stuff in storage, well...I really could go without.     Several weeks ago I was invited to participate in an upcoming blogger event, All Things Dollar Tree for Christmas, where you create something from … [Read more...]

I know...I've been an awful tease. First I gathered some pine cones, made them pop! and told you they were for a wreath. Then, I decorated the mantel with a sweater vase filled with pampas grass and peacock feathers and mentioned the wreath. And if you saw some of my posts on Facebook, you probably feel doubly teased. Maybe you were beginning to wonder if you would ever see this wreath.   Today is the day for unveiling my Pampas Grass Wreath embellished with pine cones and peacock feathers. So without further ado....drum roll please...     I love that nature provided … [Read more...]
