Whew! This has been the fastest month on record.

It’s been a joy to meet the challenge of writing each day.  Though it has been a little more challenging that I imagined.

When I embarked on this journey with you I thought that the task ahead would be much more light-hearted.   I truly had no idea that as I wrote I would be writing these sometimes direct posts, full of challenges. Through these #31Days I hope you have learned with me to Be, and how to live fully and beautifully in your “skin,” in your homes and beyond.

As a gal who recognizes that it’s the “extra” in “ordinary” that makes life “extraordinary,” I put my heart and soul in the #31Days series.   Your comments throughout the series have been wonderfully encouraging and thoughtful.  I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your interaction.I thought it would be fun to end the series with the ABC’s of being.   And a printable.  Of course.

This is a list of words that we want to be. Just think how we can impact our world by simply being.

Day 31 Challenge:  Pick two being words for each month and write them on your calendar.  Make it a point to be aware of how you are or are not being ___________.  And choose to be ___________ and ____________.

 

All 26 being words have been carefully and thoughtfully chosen.  They are words to describe an extraordinary person.  And I think they are all descriptive words which we would appreciate others using to describe us.  Which ones are your favorites?   Which ones describe you right now?  Which ones do you need to aspire to? 

 I hope you will take the challenge, and also take the time to leave a sentence explanation for at least one of the ABC’s of being.

    love this! what a great visual to see on a daily basis. a while back i went to a funeral of an old freind that i had lost touch with when we moved. the weird thing was that she had a mental disease and MS from her early 20s until her death in her late 50s. she and her husband raised three great boys but the lion’s share of daily living was on him and her input was minimal due to two major diseases. her girlfreinds frequently helped out with meals, cleaning, kids, that sort of thing. but at her funeral her husband at one point just collapsed into our arms sobbing and saying, “what will i do without her? she did EVERYTHING.” astonished, i rode home in silence until i realized it really is NOT about what you do, it is only about who you be. thanks for a great series.

    What a great idea! I want to talk about being silly. When my children still lived at home, I said something at table which my nearly grown son thought inappropriate coming from me. “Mom, you’re not supposed to say that; we have you up on a pedestal!”
    My teenage daughter chimed in, “Yeah, Mom; get back up on your mushroom!” I told them it was a slippery slope! I had always stressed good table manners & etiquette in general because I wanted them to be able to conduct themselves well in any situation.
    Then I became “The Tealadie” & began to teach them the proper way to serve & sip hot tea. By this time the grandchildren had graced our family sphere & the teaching continued. Because they still view me as the “proper one”: alias “The Tealadie” , I find it fun to occasionally climb down from “my mushroom” & do or say something really silly or undignified. Heaven help me if I ever lose the ability to just relax, have fun & be silly on occasion! After all, the Bible does say “A merry heart does good like a medicine”!!!

      Haha!! We do need to be silly. I love that your daughter told you to get back up on your mushroom…cute!! Propriety has it’s place. And it’s surely one that has been lost in culture today. It’s sad when business people need to take classes in social etiquette. I hope you find yourself free for a bit of silliness yet tonight. Blessings my friend!

  3. Diane, this was just a lovely series. I didn’t get a chance to read every post, but I did read quite a few. Great job, my friend! It is so hard to write for 31 days straight, BUT, I do hope you plan to turn this into an eBook. 🙂

    My favorite words on the list are diligent and kind. I fail on both accounts I’m afraid!!
    I really don’t know me anymore. I know the old me but I don’t know the new me. I love Jesus. I share Him with others. I write notes to encourage others but not as much as I used to for I think I’m kind of slipping away. It takes me so long to complete a task. I get forgetful! So I’m not sure where I fit!

    I have thoroughly enjoyed these 31 days. It has provoked all my emotions and made me be a bit more introspective than usual. The word kind is meaningful to me. I have a quote on my wall : “Three things in human life are important. The first is to be kind. The second is to be kind. And the third is to be kind.” Henry James to his nephew William James.

    Okay…cool quote. Be kind, be kind, be kind. And I’m a firm believer in ” there’s no such thing as being ‘too kind’…” Yes, this 31 series was clearly about introspect…how could it not be when it was speaking to ME ‘being’. And no, navel gazing isn’t the answer for me as I think things to death and take no action. I’ve settled in with the comfy bits, and grimaced but ‘did it anyway’ when the introspect handed me something a little less comfortable. Both are good things for me. Remember, I invite G-d to ‘disturb me when I am comfortable’. LOL. Scary, but true! 😉 Thank you for dedicating yourself to these 31 days.

    Alert– for me, this is about being attentive, ‘present’ in the moment, energized by being able to hear and bring TO another human being in the moment.
